Abu Dhabi, Jan 25 (IANS/WAM): A total of 26 employees - of Asian and African nationalities - of a trolley service provider at the Abu Dhabi International Airport are being prosecuted for allegedly violating United Arab Emirates' labour laws.
The 26 people, including their manager, have been referred to the Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance, after it was found that the workers were working for the service provider without being sponsored by the company.
The prosecution asked the court to imprison and deport the workers as well as order their manager to pay a penalty of 25,000 dirhams for each worker, said an official with the Abu Dhabi attorney general's office.
"The workers came to the UAE on visit visas and worked for the company as paid workers," the official said, adding that only their supervisors were sponsored by the company.
