Mangaluru, Mar 24: "The teachers have given you the education. It is like the lanterns of light in your hands. The values that you have learnt here should be nurtured in your life and the light passed on. Basically, be a good human. The society around is so divisive. When you grow up, take a pledge and remember that you will not do anything that will break the unity," said Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions.

He was speaking as chief guest during 'Jyothi Pradhan' programme for the class 10 students of St Aloysius Gonzaga School here on Wednesday, March 24.

"We need to speak about India. One India means everyone regardless of their faith, colour and language. Never forget the values that you have learnt in this institution. You students are the light and you should be the beacons wherever you go. Love everyone including those who hate you. Remember that your teachers have done a selfless job. Every student is unique. Raise up and do something great with hard work," he added.

Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ principal said, "This is not a farewell. Definitely not to those who are continuing their class 11 in this school. The light which is presented to you is not only light to educate but through this light, you should illuminate the lives of others. Light is a tool that removes darkness. The beautiful logo of this institution 'Lucet et Ardet' which means 'Shine to enkindle.' Today, after being educated in this institution for the last 10 years or less, we are presenting you to the world. Go to the world as lights facing all challenges, overcoming them, and be enkindle the world. When we become light for others, we naturally light our own path."

He also lauded the student's parents for attending the programme, "Now it is time to take home back a very confident, competent, committed, passionate and responsible future citizen," he said. The school also completes a fruitful 10 years along its first batch of class 10 students. I am sure that the students will not forget the beautiful journey in the school. After parents, it is the teachers who play a crucial role in the life of students. For teachers, students are the greatest treasures.
