Mangalore: Mulky Office Parisara Premi Samiti Inaugurated Amidst Protests by Organizations

Mangalore, Jan 27: Delivering the benedictory address at the inaugural of the new office of Jaya Srikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti in Mulky on Wednesday January 26, Swasthi Sri Bhattaraka Charukeerti Panditacharya Swamiji of Jain Mutt Moodbidri, noted that industry, agriculture, and happy living of human beings should be supportive of each other. “We need environment, industry, and spirituality. All of them should coexist. The Samiti, founded by Jayakrishna Shetty, stands committed to the ideals of providing light to the people without the ill-affects of environmental warming. Let this organization, set up with concern for the welfare of the people, grow as a people-friendly organization,” he wished.
The new office of Jaya Srikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti is located in the premises of Punaroor Building in Mulky.
Retired vice-chancellor of Manipal University, and district president of the Samiti, Dr B M Hegde, presided over the meeting. Dr Hegde said that the Samiti was set up in the interests of the people, and that it continues to get involved with solving the problems of the people. He added that the organization has been responding to the wishes and needs of the people here.
President of the central committee of Jaya Srikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti, Tonse Jayakrishna Shetty, in his address, noted that the Samiti had been set up a decade ago, with the main aim of achieving the progress of the twin-districts. “We need industries to achieve progress of the region. At the same time, rivers and water bodies should be conserved, and pollution should be avoided. We have requested the government to undertake initiatives towards this end. We are aware that the local people have faced injustice from Nagarjuna (Udupi Power Corporation Ltd) plant. We have talked to the departments concerned and leaders in the government, and requested them to attend to these problems. We have opened our office here with the specific purpose of attending to the problems of the people,” he explained.
Fr Marcel Saldanha, chief priest from Kallianpur, and state president of Karnataka State Sunni Students Federation, Moulana Shaffi Sahadi, extended their best wishes to the Samiti in its endeavours. Former chairman of State Minorities Development Corporation, Anwar Manippady, Dr M R Kudva, Noor Mohamammed, former minister, Amarnath Shetty, Samiti office bearer, K P Jagadish Adhikari, Rons Bantwal, and a number of other dignitaries were present.

Opposing the opening of the office of the Samiti, a protest was organized by Anti-Nagarjuna Samiti, Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha, and Hasiru Sene. The protestors raised slogans against the Samiti. Leaders of the Raita Sangha, who demanded the presence of the political leaders from the twin-districts at the venue to provide them with replies to their questions, created disturbances for the proceedings for some time.
