Bengaluru, Mar 28: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday flew to Goa to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of neighbouring Goa Pramod Sawant, who formally assumed charge as State Chief Minister for the second time.
Bommai extended his greetings to Sawant and wished him success.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, BJP National President JP Nadda, Organising Secretary BL Santhosh, National Secretary CT Ravi and Chief Ministers of several BJP ruled States were also present.
Bommai had also attended the swearing in ceremony of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi for the second time, which was also attended by the BJP top brass.
The Chief Minister’s attendance in the two events, though considered routine for BJP ruled States, is also seen as Bommai’s attempt to show his presence and extend pleasantries with the BJP national leadership, including Prime Minister.
Incidentally, both Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister are touring Karnataka in April and these visits are considered politically significant.
It is, however, not known if Bommai had an opportunity to snatch conversations with the BJP top brass during his visits to Lucknow and Panaji for the swearing in ceremonies.
