Mangaluru: Court to deliver verdict in R N Nayak murder case on Mar 30

Mangaluru, Mar 29: The Karnataka Control of Organized Crimes Act court in Belagavi will come out with its verdict in the nine-year-old murder case of BJP leader R N Nayak from Ankola on Wednesday March 30. Bannanje Raja alias Rajendra Kumar (54) has been named as accused in the case.

Bannanje Raja is currently lodged in the Hindalga prison at Belagavi. He faces 48 cases filed in Udupi, Mangaluru, Uttara Kannada, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Shivamogga and Kerala. Getting R N Nayak murdered through contract killing in 2013 is the most prominent case he faces. Raja, an underworld fugitive who was hiding abroad, was arrested by the security agencies of Morocco on February 12, 2015.

It is alleged that Bannanje Raja was involved with making threat calls, demanding Hafta money and then murdering those who refused to pay money. 12 of his accomplices who helped in the murder are also in jail.

As cases under the said act can be filed in court stationed in Belagavi, Bengaluru and Mysuru. Therefore, the current case falls under the jurisdiction of Belagavi court.
