Puttur: KSRTC bus stand to acquire names of valiant heroes, 'Koti Chennaya'

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Mar 30: It has been decided to name Puttur KSRTC bus stand in the honour of revered valiant brothers of Tulu folklore, Koti Chennaya. A historic function will soon be held to re-christen this bus stand, which will indeed be a proud moment for the Tuluvas.

Puttur bus stand has acquired the distinction of being the biggest bus stand in the district to have been built under public-private participation. The moment of pride for the bus stand will be when it will acquire the new name.

The decision to name this bus stand after the twin heroes of Tulunadu came due to the unending efforts put in by Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor. In all likelihood, the christening ceremony might be held during the next month. He said that a meeting held recently took the above decision and the new name of the bus stand will be 'Koti Chennaya KSRTC Bus Stand Puttur.'

A function to rename the bus stand will be held with the participation of MP Nalin Kmar Kateel, district in-charge  minister V Sunil Kumar, ministers S Angara, Kota Srinivas Poojary and other dignitaries.

After the Yuva Vahini Puttur  unit submitted a memorandum to the MLA on this issue two years ago, followed by more such pleas, the MLA had consistently followed up the matter personally and through reminders and recommendations. Finally his efforts have borne fruits.

This bus stand is housed in 3.5 acres of land belonging to KSRTC and the terminal and commercial complex have been built by Hindustan Promoters and Developers at a cost of Rs 33 crore. The private bus stand also is located in this stand.

Loss making KSRTC devising new tactics to stay afloat as if a miracle will take place overnight. First run buses on time. Now buses are Ram Bharose (aaya tho aaya varna iska tikhana hin nahi). Kick out the rash drivers who don't care for passengers lives. Don't even know that they have to slow down on bumpers at toll nakas. Driving buses so rashly as if it is their fathers property. The sooner this gets privatised the better for everyone. The ego attitude of the drivers and conductors will automatically change if this Kachra KSRTC is privatised soon. My wishful thinking 😫
