Bengaluru, Mar 31: The state high court has sentenced a man to ten years rigorous imprisonment apart from imposing a fine of Rs 50,000 for sexually assaulting his 14-year-old minor daughter.
The high court set aside an order of the trial court that had absolved the man from the rape charge. The high court observed that there is no reason for a daughter to charge her father unnecessarily for sexually using her when she was a minor and concluded that the father is guilty.
The father, an auto rickshaw driver, had been exonerated by a special court for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act cases. The government had gone on appeal against this order. A division bench of the state high court comprising Justice H T Narendra Prasad and Justice Rajendra Badamikar, reversed the subordinate court judgement.
