Udupi, Apr 3: “Halal tradition pertains to a particular religion. It is not right that every one should eat meat that is cut in accordance with Halal. We grew up eating meat which is not halal. Pressure to get Halal certificate is increasing. We do not have any objection regarding Muslims eating Halal meat. But it is not right to make every one eat the meat cut according to Halal. There are cases in court in this regard,” said union minister Shobha Karandlaje.

Responding to the statement of Congress and JD(S) that BJP will win 150 seats using the Hindutva weapon, Shobha said, “Congress and BJP have treated people as vote banks. They have divided the country in the name of religion. That is why people of the nation have taught them a fitting lesson.

Congress should change its mentality at least now. BJP stands with the public. It implements what the public wants and needs. It takes the society along without allowing for friction between communities. After Modi has become PM, communal clashes have not taken place. During the Congress regime many died in communal clashes and many women were widowed. BJP does not do the policy of divide and rule. Siddaramaiah brought schemes like Shaadi Bhagya, Tipu Jayanti and tours for children. Congress is trying to impose the same mentality on the people of the state. Congress and JD (S) see only votes. BJP sees people.”

Giving details on the progress of Harsha murder case of Shivamogga, Shobha said, “NIA has registered an FIR in the murder of Harsha that occurred at Shivamogga. Investigations will reveal the truth. The cause and people behind the crime should be made known to the public.

Even the brandishing of swords at the police on the road should be investigated. It must be probed why swords and machetes were kept at homes. If the investigation is done properly it may herald peace in Shivamogga. SDPI and PFI are trying to sow seeds of poison throughout the country. In Hijab controversy, they used poor girl students. There is an international conspiracy behind the Hijab issue. Facts will come out after the NIA investigation.”
