Hubballi, Apr 4: Rumours that were making rounds in political circles of Karnataka that Legislative council chairman Basavaraj Horatti will join BJP is confirmed now. Horatti himself gave clue about this and said that his joining BJP is almost confirmed once the next assembly elections are declared.

Speaking to reporters in the city on Sunday April 3, Horatti said, “It is true that discussion is held with regards to my joining to BJP. As I am council chairman, officially I cannot say anything on this subject. However, once the assembly elections are declared officially, I will make my joining BJP public.

“BJP leaders have given positive response on my joining their party. I do not want to create any unnecessary confusion. So I kept quiet on this matter.

“I have discussed the matter with former chief ministers (CM) and JD(S) senior leader H D Kumaraswamy and he has agreed. Former CM B S Yediyurappa, CM Basavaraj Bommai, union ministers and former CMs have expressed their cooperation. Some are giving controversial statements. I will not pay attention to such opinions. Let us wait and see what is in store for future,” he said.

Horatti is getting elected since 42 years continuously from the graduate constituency to the legislative council. If he joins BJP and gets down into the legislative assembly race, then a new political life will begin for him. His intention of joining of BJP has created many discussions and speculations in state political circles.
