Udupi, Apr 4: “Basavaraja Horatti and his family have known me for the past 25 years. We welcome his defection from JDS to BJP. Our party will grow stronger with this and we will be able to win elections with a larger lead. I am personally very happy by it and I welcome him,” said Murugesh Nirani, Karnataka minister of large and medium scale industries speaking to news reporters here on Monday, April 4.
“Horatti is joining BJP in anticipation of the Legislative Council seat. He will continue till the sitting speaker continues. Our party leaders will take a decision on it," he added.
"There is a demand for a furniture park and an industrial park for women in Udupi. Religious tussle does not impact industries", he said.
Regarding banning the use of mikes in mosques, he said only a few people were discussing it. "Industrial persons like us do not go to look at it. We remain in our own world and are not involved in it."
Nirani further said, "We are ahead in progress when compared to the last two Covid impacted years. Industries are improving. The cost of fuel has gone up. The cost of thermal plants generating electricity has gone up from between Rs 5,000 – Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 – Rs 15,000. The cost of electricity comes down when the cost of fuel comes down. Karnataka is in first place in industries. As much as 50,000 acres of land will be acquired from farmers and used at the rate of 1,000 acres for each district and 20,000 acres around Bengaluru for industries. If the land is readily available in the district, it can be used for projects later."
"We have announced one district, one project plan. There will be equilibrium in production in all the districts with this,” said the minister.
