Mangaluru: Miscreants change name of Bappanadu temple in Google Maps

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Apr 4: The name of Shree Kshethra Bappanadu Sri Durgaparameshwari temple at Mulki has been changed by some miscreants on Google Map.

The name is changed to Hazrat Bappa Byari Durga Parameshwari.

Devotees and administrative committee of the temple have expressed anguish at this act and have called for stringent action against the culprits. Complaints are filed with Mangaluru city police commissioner, Mulki police station and Mangaluru cyber crime police station.

The information of name change was known since the night of Saturday and action was sought against the miscreants on social media. Though commoners cannot do any changes on Google Map, some shrewd miscreants have done this with the intention of spoiling the communal harmony, it is said.

The administrative committee of the temple has taken action to rename the temple as Sri Durgaparameshwari temple, Bappanadu.

In the temple fair that was held between March 17 to 25, Muslim traders were prohibited from carrying out business. This created controversy. Jasmine flowers were being sold in huge quantity during the fair by Muslims. But this year Muslims were not allowed to sell jasmines. But the administrative committee of the temple had given clarification that they did not prohibit anyone from selling flowers.
