CM should ponder why entrepreneurs hesitate to invest in Karnataka, choose other states: DKS

Bengaluru, Apr 5: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chief DK Shivakumar expressed serious concern on why entrepreneurs are hesitant to invest in the State due to growing communal unrest and prefer other neighbouring States and urged Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to ponder over the situation.

Speaking to media representatives near his residence on Tuesday, he said the Congress government took the initiative by organising Global Investors Meet when senior leader SM Krishna was the Chief Minister and enabled big industrialists and even multi-national companies to invest in the State.

When the then Prime Minister AB Vajpayee came to lay the foundation stone for the Bengaluru International Airport, he had said the investors from foreign countries visit Bengaluru first and then proceed to other States, Shivakumar said and mentioned that the present communal unrest has made investors hesitate to invest in the State.

The KPCC Chief said the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh government has been making determined efforts for developing infrastructure and other projects during the last 15 years and was now competing in attracting entrepreneurs to invest in its State. The situation now has changed due to various incidents and communal divide, he said.

Shivakumar said the ruling BJP and the Chief Minister must ponder over this and take steps to arrest the situation rather than indulging in scoring debating points.

Karnataka has produced engineers, technocrats and medical professionals and the State, especially Bengaluru is regarding as the Start-Up Capital and Knowledge city of India, he said asking Bommai to seriously consider the genuine concerns expressed by Biocon Chief Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and other leading industrialists.

Mr. DK Shiv Kumar, you answer lies in your question itself, Communal unrest and Hinduvata will scare any entrepreuner. People around the world and in India are observing what is going on in Karnataka Most of our business community in Mangalore and Udupi cities are Konkani speaking Hindus and not those radicals of BJP and BD who are creating the communal unrest with minority communities. Muslims are a business community anywhere in the world. Take Dubai for instance, they dont have a problem with all the Hindus working there. So why should Hindus have problem with Muslims of their own state and country. Indira Gandhi did the same mistake by nationalizing big industries and banks, Big foreign industries and banks left and now local nationalized banks are dying with big time corruption, SBI being the leader There are no Hindu investors in foreign countries, they are all Christians or Muslims, and seeing what nonsense is being created by radical Hindus even a vada pav vendor from Bombay will hesitate.

In classical rhetoric, this is a logical fallacy called begging the question. Why entrepreneurs hesitate to invest in Karnataka presupposes a conclusion which is not supported by any argument. Readers are happily responding to such fallacy. It is like asking why Kerala is the most backward state in India ?

Shivkumar is good at resort politics as he has a lot of unaccounted cash. He was a great pal of the late Ahmed Patel. He has bankrolled Sonia Gandhi. However, as for winning elections, he is delusional! Pappuraj is not an option!

Karnataka will not be the same like in the past as it has been in the news across the globe for all the wrong reasons. Divisive politics has ruined the state.

One of the reasons why people hesitate to invest in Kerala and in West Bengal is due to wide spread fear of labour unions and their unjust demands. Similar situation is coming up in Karnataka with BJP trying to create communal disharmony. Soon other states will take full advantage of the situation. A wise man told me once that no Industries will be put up in Mangalore because of power cuts and because of communal tension. It is true.
