Kasargod: Cong leader killed after coming into contact with live electric cable

Kasargod, Apr 6: In a tragic accident, a Congress leader was electrocuted after coming into contact with a snapped live electric cable in Maniyat, Kanhangad on Wednesday, April 6 evening.

Kanhangad block Congress president D V Balakrishnan (64) is the deceased. He was homebound on his scooter via the inner road after visiting his daughter’s house when his scooter came in contact with the cable that had fallen on the road due to the rain and storm.

His granddaughter who was riding pillion on the scooter, however, escaped unhurt.

His mortal remains are kept at the district hospital morgue.
