Mangaluru: MCC Bank Ltd celebrates 94th birthday of senior lawyer Clarence Pais

Mangaluru, Apr 6: The MCC Bank felicitated senior advocate Clarence Pais on his 94th birthday at the administrative office of the bank on April 5.

In his introductory speech Anil Lobo, president of the bank welcomed the gathering and said that Clarence Pais has been practicing law with honesty and diligence for the past 70 years. "As a legal advisor to the bank, he has offered impeccable and impartial service to the bank. His service is exemplary for all of us. It is a matter of pride for us and our bank to come together to celebrate his 94th birthday," he said. 

Speaking during the occasion, director Irene Rebello, praised Clarence Pais’s mobility and sensitivity at the age of 94. She remembered the sincere efforts of Clarence Pais in passing the bill of deleting the probating requirement of the ‘WILL’ as per Indian Succession Act and the Church has recognized his achievement and has given the honor of ‘knight St Gregory the great’. She prayed that we could celebrate his hundredth birthday at MCC Bank and prayed that God almighty may give him good health and peace of mind.

Lawyer Clarence Pais cut the 94th birthday cake and expressed his gratitude for the love and respect shown to him. He said that he is satisfied to his conscience that not a single opinion given by him for the last 72 years was found to be wrong. He remembered the co-operation of the late George Fernandes and the late Arun Jaitley who helped him to pass the Bill in the Parliament which helped two and half crore Indian Christians to register their ‘WILL’ without going to any Court or paying any Probate Fees.

On behalf of the Bank Clarence Pais was honored with the Shawl, Flower bouquet and Memento.

Addressing the gathering Vice President Jerald Jude DSilva said that it is a privilege for all of us to receive the services of Clarence Pais and his contribution to our society is immense and he is delighted to meet him face to face.

General Manager Sunil Menezes thanked Clarence Pais for his simplicity and humility and for accepting our honor on his 94th Birthday. He also thanked the president, vice president and board of directors for giving the opportunity to celebrate the Birthday of Senior Advocate Clarence Pais in our Bank.

Directors Andrew D'Souza, Marcel D'Souza, J P Rodrigues, Elroy Kiran Crasto, Roshan D'Souza, Anil Patrao, David D'Souza, Harold Monteiro, Dr Freeda D'Souza, Dr Gerald Pinto, professional director, C G Pinto, deputy general manager, Raj Menezes and administrative office staff were present.

    Many many happy returns of the day from side too to Lawyer Clarence Pais .May he have the pleasure of celebrating 100th Birthday.I am sure certianly he will .May God bless him with good health .we too had the pleasure of his services someime back.

    As you all say, if our Well Noted and Respected our dear Clarence Pais has Spoken a few Chosen Words for our Enterprising MCC Bank, I am Very Sure that the Bank is on the threshold of doing Extremely Well !!!
