Mangaluru, Apr 8: After a long gap of 17 years, Konkani Natak Sabha is all set to stage the drama ‘Somyachi Nimani Baram Voram’ (final twelve hours of Jesus Christ). The biblical drama will be staged at Kulshekar church ground on Sunday, April 10, 5:30 pm onwards.

Senior artiste and known play director Dolla Mangaluru has directed 'Somyachi Nimani Baram Voram', Sangeeth Guru fame Joel Pereira has written the dialogues and songs to the drama. He also blended the two-and-half hour play with his music. Claude D’Souza Bendur, Clarence Pinto Padil, Jerome Moras and Melwyn D’Almeida Valencia are the co-directors of the drama.

More than 100 artistes will be part of the drama while more than 100 technicians and supporting staff are working behind the stage for the success of the event.

"A stage which is over 200 ft in length, is already set at Cordel ground. Along with class acting by actors, lights and sound also play an important role in this drama. There will be many technical surprises in the drama which we cannot reveal now. We have used the latest technology for the drama and it will be ten times more updated from when we staged it 17 years ago. We expect a crowd of more than 5,000 for the drama," says Dolla Mangaluru, director of the drama.

"It is our dream to show the final twelve hours of Jesus Christ to people in the form of a drama. We are trying to recreate the scenes which are mentioned in the Bible without any compromise. After hunting all over India, we bought class costumes for the artistes. The two-and-half hour show costs more than Rs five lac. We are grateful to our sponsors and supporters. We are also grateful to our president Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza for his direction and leadership. I welcome all drama lovers to Cordel church ground on Sunday evening.
