Mangaluru, Apr 11: City south police station personnel arrested rowdy sheeters Preetam alias Preetam Poojary and Dheeraj Kumar alias Dheeru on Sunday April 10 evening for creating fear among the public and hitting staff working at Ideal Chicken stall of Valencia in the city.
According to the details of the incident, accused Preetam and Dheeraj were beating a person with their fist in front of Ideal Chicken stall at Valencia at around 6.30 pm on Sunday. The staff of the chicken stall questioned the unruly behaviour of the assailants. All of a sudden the known rowdy sheeters Preetam and Dheeru, attacked Sunil Mardi, Anantha and Jeevan, staff of the chicken stall, with helmet and stones. The rowdy sheeters also tried to stab the chicken stall personnel. The public at the spot prevented them from doing so. The accused who got enraged at the public, threatened the public by brandishing knives at them. Public had fist fight with the accused. Police personnel who were on patrol duty on Sagar-6 vehicle reached the spot as per the information received from the control room and arrested the accused with the help of public.

Two knives, stones and helmets used by the culprits in the assault are confiscated by the police. When they were subjected to medical examination it is known that both were inebriated and Preetam had consumed ganja in addition.
Preetam alias Preetam Poojary (27), resident of Jayanagara, Jalligudde, Bajal and Dheeraj Kumar alias Dheeru (25), resident of Alape Ganadabettu house, near Nagabana Katte, Padil post are the accused who are known rowdy sheeters.
Eight cases, including, two cases of dacoity, two cases of attempt to loot, two cases of attempt to murder and two cases of assault are registered against accused Dheeraj in Mangaluru city south, east and Mangaluru rural police stations.
Ten cases including two robbery, three attempt to murder, ganja consumption and three cases of assault are registered against accused Preetam in Mangaluru city south, east, north and rural police stations.
