Tipper driver Ismail, resident of Beltangady, was transporting stolen sand that was stored near Adyar river bank, to Madikeri via Mysuru-Mani highway on February 18, 2015. The vehicle was owned by Mohammed Rafiq of Mangaluru.

Avinash Bhimaguli was travelling in his Maruti Alto car towards Sullia on the same day and time. Tipper driver Ismail was driving the truck at high speed. He crashed the tipper into the Maruti Alto car causing instant death of Avinash Bhimaguli and his father Laxminarayana Bhimaguli. Avinash’s mother Chennamma died on the way to the hospital, while his son Abhinandan died four days after the accident at a hospital in Mangaluru. Bhavya, who was in the car had received serious injuries to her head and face.

2 yrs prison, 3000 rs fine for the death of innocent 4 people, what a deal. This is our outdated, rotten law system.

Here also, it depends on who was in the BMW. If it was a well-connected/powerful person then justice would be speedy. If it was that person's driver, then nothing would happen.

Only two years jail punishment and 3,000rs ?A laughing number.4 lives cost only that much?I would not accept as a family member and put a case against it .After two years he will come out and do the same to another family might get killed.Slap him per family member two years .One should feel the heat and in near future shouldnt drive for 10years.Cancel his driving licence. That too after six years.God knows how many lives were inbetween again lost due to negligence.
