Udupi, Apr 13: Hindu Jagarana Vedike will be holding a religious programme on April 15, Friday, as part of which Satyanarayana Pooja will be held at Veereshwara temple, Gangolli. Pramod Mutalik, head of the Sri Rama Sene was to participate in the programme.
However, deputy commissioner Kurma Rao has issued orders banning his entry for the programme on the basis of a request made by SP to him.
The deputy commissioner said Mutalik has been barred from participating in the programme as Gangolli is a communally sensitive area. He said if Pramod Mutalik makes inciting speeches in the programme, it can provoke communal hatred.
“Several cases of communal clashes that occurred from 2014 are registered in Gangolli police station. Orders banning the entry of Pramod Mautalik for the programme have been issued to prevent untoward incidents and to maintain law and order under section 133, 143 and 144 of Criminal procedure code 1973 on the basis of information provided by the SP,” he stated.
The orders were released on Wednesday, April 13.
