Giving details to media, Dinesh, manager of Shambhavi Lodge where Santhosh Patil killed himself, said, “Santhosh Patil had reserved room numbers 207 and 209 at 5 pm on April 11 for him and his friends Santhosh and Prashanth Shetty. He gave the Hindalaga address. Accordingly, Santhosh stayed in room number 207 and his friends in room number 209.
“After the check0in at 5.30 pm, all the three went out to have dinner and were back at 8.59 pm. While on his way back here, Santhosh Patil had brought a juice drink as parcel in his hand. On the following day around 10.50 am, Santhosh Patil’s friends enquired at the counter about Santhosh. They also expressed panic saying that he is not receiving mobile calls and not opening the door of the room even after knocking it for several times.
“When we opened the room through duplicate key, we saw that Santhosh Patil was found dead in sleeping position. We immediately informed the matter to the police. On the morning of the death, the police had come to our lodge inquiring about Santhosh. They had Belagavi address. We could not make out from the photo as it looked slightly different. As Santhosh mentioned his address as Hindalaga, we could not make out that the person the police asking is the same one. The police have collected all the CCTV footage from us. They have also informed us not to rent out both rooms to anyone for a week,” he said.
