Mangalore: ‘Prayog 2011’ Proves Marvelous Treat for Dance Buffs

Mangalore, Feb 6: ‘Prayog 2011’, the biggest dance competition organized by Mangalore Excellent Dance Academy (MEDA) at Pegasus Ground (Green Pavilion) on Saturday February 5, was everything it promised to be.
Professional dancers danced well while dance lovers enjoyed the show, making the event a success. The magical dance performances by some of the well-known dancers of the Academy including ‘Chak Dhoom Dhoom contestant’ Cyrus, received thundering applause. Earlier, ‘Chande’ beats added a traditional touch to the classy evening. Firecrackers added extra color to the dazzling twilight.
The organizers of Prayog 2011 were Sandesh Jhanvi, Kiran, Guru, Anand Prabhu, Malvika Sheka, Nishith, Shahid, Yassar Ibrahim, Rekha Shetty, Calvina, Maithri Malli, Nirmala Monis, Rosy Wong, and Preema.
The audience gave a tremendous response and the enthusiasm amongst the viewers, especially the youngsters, was noticeable. The entire programme showcased diverse genres of music from across the country. The very essence and entire spectrum of dance was beautifully captured by the youth dressed in colorful costumes and engrossed in dancing.
The formal programme began by invoking God’s blessings with the lighting of the lamp by guests. Commissioner Dr K N Vijayprakash, Kannada film director S V Rajendra Singh Babu, D K District Youth Congress president Arun Coelho, former mayor Shashidar Hegde, and Madhukhar Malli graced the occasion. RJ Sahil Zaheer hosted the programme and gave a wonderful momentum to the event through his unique compering style.
The programme had a well-balanced blend of western, eastern, and classical dance forms. From the traditional classical touches to the latest rap numbers and rock remixes, the audience was transported to a world of ecstasy.
