Bengaluru, Apr 17: The Karnataka Contractors’ Association has made another serious allegation against the ruling BJP government after the 40% commission demand by ministers behind every government work that is allotted.

Now the association says that water resources department follows a unique corruption process called ‘Package System’ to extract money from the contractors doing the works of the department.

The contractors, who met CM Bommai on Saturday, said that small works are packaged and a tender is called. The intention behind this act is to mint money from the contractors.

Citing the recent example of package system of corruption in the water resources department, the contractors said, “A tender was called earlier for works related to outside canal in the Athani section of Karnataka Irrigation Corporation Limited of Belagavi district. For this, the contractors took loans to pay the EMD and the tender application charges. However, now the department has suddenly made a U turn and are saying that the works will be taken up together as package work. Due to this small time contractors are facing problems.”

The association has warned CM Bommai of fierce protest if the package system of corruption is not stopped immediately in the water resources department.
