Mangaluru: Sonal, Simone Monteiro emerge winners of first ever 'Daijiworld Duet Singing Stars'

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Daijiworld 24x7 TV’s mega stage show of Konkani programmes, ‘Konkani Sambhram-2' was held at Don Bosco Hall here on Sunday April 17.

The special entertainment programme of around 2 hours duration was witnessed by a huge crowd. Going by their response, they enjoyed every moment of it.

The show was mainly dedicated for presenting awards to the winners of popular Konkani reality shows, ‘Daijiworld Duet Singing Stars’ and ‘MTG-Gulf Edition'.

Sonal Monteiro and Simone Monteiro won the title of ‘Daijiworld Duet Singing Stars’ while Jenisha D’Souza and Cherryl Anna D’Almeida bagged the runner-up spots of the show. Asha Moras and Seema D’Souza from Allipade were the second runners- up. Noel and Jenifer Mascarenhas, the founders of the SMKC Dubai, honoured the winners with the trophies and prize money.

Rohan Monteiro, managing director , Rohan Corporation; Austin Peris, representing Ronald Colaco and family, Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza, president, Konkani Natak Sabha, Fr Ronald Serrao, rector, St Joseph Seminary, Guru Baliga, CEO, Vishwa Konkani Kendr, Shakthinagar, Louis Pinto, president, Mandd Sobhann, and Ron Rodrigues, London, movie and serial producer, inaugurated the show lighting the lamp. Walter Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld group, and Alexis Castelino, Dayan D’Souza, directors - Daijiworld TV, accompanied the dignitaries.

Wishing the event the best, Fr Paul Melwyn said, “Daijiworld is a household name in coastal Karnataka and the finest stage for budding talents and artistes. There are many popular programmes on Daijiworld TV and we are all fond of it. I congratulate the entire team of Daijiworld for their success and wish them the best."

Walter Nandalike said, “Sambhram is a get-together of supporters of Konkani programmes telecast in Konkani and Konkani talents who have participated in various TV programmes and reality shows aired on Daijiworld. Today, we are announcing winners of ‘Daijiworld Duet Singing Stars’ and felicitating the winners of ‘'MTG Gulf Edition' and 'Phone in Sangeeta Taare'. Meanhwile, I am happy to announce new Konkani programmes like 'Biri Biri Pavs', Konkani serial ‘Mrs Meena and Family season 2’ and ‘Hello Father season 2’. We, Daijiworld Media, thank all our supporters, advertisers and viewers for their support and guidance. We expect the same in the coming days too.”

Roy Castelino, former president, Konkani Sahitya Academy, directors of Daijiworld, Lawrence D’Souza and Ronald Nazareth felicitated Dharini Kundapura, the winner of 'Phone in Sangeeta Taare' with trophy and cheque.

Judges of ‘MTG Gulf Edition’ Meena Rebimbus, Fr Denis D Sa, Alwyn Noronha, Joswin Pinto handed over the trophies and cheques to the relatives of the winners namely Clement Fernandes Qatar, Jeevan Vas Dubai, Carol D’Souza Qatar and Renita from Oman. Alex Castelino felicitated Meena Rebimbus with a flower bouquet and memento.

Fr Denis said, “MTG was a very popular show and it completely destroyed the monopoly of a section of singers and made a way for new talents. The budding talents received huge encouragement from MTG. We, all three judges, are grateful to the organizers for the opportunity."

Known Konkani literature and director operations, Daijiworld, Melvyn Rodrigues and former president of Mangalore Konkans, Alwyn Pinto Dubai, released 'Jinyenthlim Sotham', Dayan D Souza Mukamar’s book. Hailing the richness of Dayan's writing, Melvyn said, “The book contains literature which is close to everyone's heart. There is a good message in every article. The writings of Dayan are always enjoyable and thoughtful.”

Dayan D’Souza thanked people behind his writings. He also explained the motive behind his articles and how to tell something good to society through them.

Anil Lobo, chairman, MCC Bank, and directors of Daijiworld Kishoo Barkur and Leena Victor D’Souza honoured the winners of Christmas carol singing with trophies and cash awards.

The melodious singing with dance and unique presentation of the finalists was another attraction of the event. On behalf of the judges, Joel Rebello rendered a song with a rocking performance. Praveen Tauro, marketing manager, felicitated the judges of ‘Daijiworld Duet Singing Stars’ with bouquets and mementos.

Known TV host Komal Jenifer D’Souza, compered the event in her own classic way which was appreciated by the audience.

The entire show was directed by Stany Bela and co-ordinated by Praveen Tauro, Vincent Pinto, Ronald Nazareth, Noel D’Souza, Puttur and Geetha Bangera.

    Congratulations to the Monteiro . I knew that they would win the "Singing Duets" competition as I had previously watched them perform with their father on Daijiworld TV. Great voices and poise. Congratulations to all!
