Bengaluru, Apr 27: A statue of the erstwhile ruler of Mysore Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, who had worked tirelessly for the all-round development of the State, will be established in Malleswaram soon, Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Addressing a function organised by the Kannada Sangha of BHEL Employees, he also inaugurated the renovated traditional stage of Sri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar in the BHEL factory premises.
The minister said Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar was responsible for establishing BHEL and many other public sector undertakings in the State and had worked for the development and promotion of Kannada language besides construction of several dams and hydel power projects.
Sri Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraj Wodeyar, Padmashri awardee Hirekala Hajabba, L Hanumanthaiah, MP, Kannada Development Authority Chairman TS Nagabharana and others participated the programme.
