Beltangady, Apr 28: On the evening of Wednesday, April 27 at 6.50 pm on the auspicious occasion of Godhooli muhurtam, 183 pairs of bride and grooms were united in the marriage ceremony.

The mangalasutras were distributed by Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade, revenue minister R Ashok, cine actor Ganesh and other eminent personalities.

The bride were given saree and blouse and grooms were presented with shawl and dhoti at the residence of Dr Heggade in the morning.

All the 183 pairs were made to take vow to live together for life. Later, the newly wedded couple took Darshan of Lord Manjunath and had food at Annapoorna pantry and went to their native places.

Speaking on the occasion R Ashok said that property and status is not important in life but love and faith.

Ganesh sung the Kannada number ‘Hosa Balina Hosilali Ninthiruva Hosa Jodige’, a popular song sung by Late Dr Rajkumar.

Blessing the couples, Dr Heggade said that mass marriages should set example for simple life rather than spending lavishly for marriages.

MLAs Krishnappa, Harish Poonja, Hemavati V Heggade, D Surendra Kumar, D Harshendra Kumar and Supriya Harshendra Kumar were present.

D Harshendra Kumar welcomed the gathering. Ganesh Kamath rendered vote of thanks. Damodar Sharma of Barkur compered the event.

    are you living in INdia or Saudi? how can you question the majority function...Covid never attacks their functions...be careful during Eid, Christmas and Easter...that time Corona will attack more as it is against minorities just like the present blue JP govt...
