Kundapur, Apr 28: A 2.5-year-old female leopard fell into the trap placed by the forest department at Maladi near Thekkatte of the taluk.

As the leopard was sighted continuously moving around in the farmland adjoining Malady Sri Nandikehswara temple, a trap with dog tied to it was laid last month. On Thursday April 28, the leopard fell into the trap.

The vicinity of the farmland has Anganwadi, school and houses. Last year too, the leopard had attacked many dogs, cattle and other domestic animals. In addition, people were scared to go out as they sighted it many times. The forest department placed the trap last month to catch the animal.

Locals Sathish Devadiga and Suresh helped the forest department by tying the dog to the trap.

Dinesh & Rita - Praveen is right. What about the dogs trauma, it is cruelty to animals. Where are the animal rights people. Action should be taken against cruelty to animals.
