Mangaluru, May 1: The Expert Group of Institutions was bestowed with the Green Award instituted by GIB India, at an event held in Chennai on Saturday.
The award was presented in recognition of the institution’s contribution in adopting sustainable practices and promoting green values. Its lush green campus in Valachil was once a barren laterite quarry, and was constructed without disturbing the natural hilly terrain.
Today, the campus houses thousands of trees, and boasts of eco-friendly processes such as solar power generation, water recycling, food waste composting, and organic farming of fruits and vegetables.
The award received over 1000 nominations and 20 applicants from all over the world were selected for the award by an expert jury.
Prof. Narendra L Nayak, Chairman, and Dr. Ushaprabha N Nayak, Vice-Chairperson of the institution received the award in Chennai.
