Bengaluru: Mobile veterinary ambulance clinics to begin functioning from May 7

Bengaluru, May 6: Mobile veterinary Ambulance Clinics, an ambitious project of state government, will begin functioning from May 7. Animal husbandry minister Prabhu Chauhan informed the matter to the media.

Chauhan said that the programme will be inaugurated by union animal husbandry minister Parushottam Rupal in the presence of chief minister (CM) Basavaraj Bommai at the campus of Vidhana Soudha.

In the first phase, out of 275 ambulances, 70 will be flagged off. There are 2.90 crore livestock in the state like cows, buffaloes, sheep, goats and pigs. One vehicle is provided for every lac of these animals. So 275 are needed for the purpose.

A separate call centre is established for coordination of these vehicles and personnel. If the farmers call toll free number 1962, treatment will be provided at their door step. Every vehicle will have veterinary doctor, assistant and driver-cum-grade D worker. Cattle Sanjivini project was implemented in order to make it convenient for the livestock farmers to protect, take care of the health of their livestock. The mobile veterinary ambulance clinic is the advanced part of the project.

Chauhan said, “Animal husbandry department has established animal welfare board, Cattle Sanjivini ambulance and implemented ban of cow slaughter. First animal welfare helpline, government goshala in every district, vaccination of livestock to maintain their health and recruitment of veterinary doctors and personnel is done. Five rupee support price for every litre of milk and compensation for sheep and goats that die suddenly is given under Anugraha project.”
