Mangaluru: Construction worker at work falls to death from first floor

Mangaluru, May 11: A construction worker fell to the ground from the first floor and died at Devara Padavu, Vamanjoor on Wednesday, May 11 at about 10 AM.

The deceased is identified as Harischandra (50), a resident of Moodushedde.

He was working on masonry on the first floor of the house belonging to Jacinta Rego when he lost balance and fell to death.

A case under IPC section 304 is registered against contractor Veerappa following a police complaint lodged by Pramod, son of the deceased.

    time and again we come across such incidents...no safety factors followed...no one to check these things..in gulf there are inspectors who make rounds of constructions sites and fine heavily..

    The contractor has to pay, of course. But don't wait for the long process. The local communkty must come forward and help the unfortunate family to bear the burden make the family that they are not alone in this moment of great sorrow. Mere criticism of the system will not benefit anybody.

    Security for the workers is very important ,Contractor has to see that the person is secured.He has to pay for him.Even workers must see that their life is not in danger.Heartfelt sympathy to the family .May his soul rest in peace.
