Mangalore, Feb 20:Thousands of Catholics from various churches coming under the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore and other churches and various other Christian organizations and like minded secular organizations participated in the mammoth silent protest rally organized in Mangalore today, February 20, 2011.

The protest rally was organized under the aegis of Catholic Diocese of Mangalore to oppose and reject the report of Justice Somshekar Commission and also to demand handing over the investigation to the CBI. The participants of the rally tied black ribbons across the mouth, carried black flags and most of them wore black clothes as a symbol of protest against the report submitted to the government recently by Justice Somshekara, Thousands of protesters who participated in the silent protest rally that began from from Jyothi circle at 3 pm congregated at Nehru Maidan grounds where leaders like Mariamma Thomas, Brother Walter J Maben and Bishop of Mangalore Rt Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza addressed the massive and enthusiastic gathering and demanded handing over the case to the CBI and also the withdrawal of cases filed against Christians.

In her speech Mariamma Thomas thanked Ronald Colaco and the Bishops for their efforts in convincing the Home Minister of Karnataka R Ashok who has now promised to withdraw the cases filed against the catholic youth soon.We have to thank our Chief Minister and Home Minister because when Ronald Colaco and the Bishops met the Chief Minister and Home Minister they assured that the cases will be withdrawn. On behalf of all the people assembled here I thank Ronald Colaco and the Bishops for their extraordinary efforts in this regards”, Mariamma Thomas said.

In his presidential address Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza who likened the gathering to the crowd that had assembled to listen to Jesus at the sermon on the mountain stated “we have assembled in thousands in this ground in the centre of this city asking for justice. We have gathered here to protest against injustice done to us and to demand justice”. The Bishop pointed out that the Somshekara Commission report has pained the sentiments of Christians, in the process pushing the tiny minority community further to the corner. He demanded the investigation of the attack on churches and the events that followed should be handed over to the CBI to ensure justice to the Christians. The Bishop also demanded that the State Government should withdraw all the registered cases against Christians filed in the connection with the church attacks.

Pointing out that Christians, though form a miniscule minority cannot be subdued he said “If anyone thinks that minorities can be subdued by attacks or be taken for a ride by giving false reports, we would like to tell such people that they are mistaken. The culprits might have attacked the churches, broken the crucifix and desecrated the holy communion but they cannot destroy our faith in Jesus. We are pained by the attacks but not threatened”.

The Bishop also stated that Christians are peace loving people who don’t trouble others. “When we don’t indulge in unlawful activities I don’t understand why we are attacked and why we are targeted? We put forth these questions before the society because the Somashekara Commission has failed to find answer to our woes in this regard. Somshekar Commission was constituted to investigate these events and to tell us as to who carried out all these attacks. The Commission repeatedly says who has not done but fails to identify the people and the organizations responsible for these attacks. Hence we reject this report”, the Bishop stated.

In his address Walter Maben, Chairman of Karnataka Missions Network stated that the Somshekar Commission has disappointed thousands of Christians who were seeking justice. “It is incorrect to say the attacks on places of worship were spontaneous. They were preplanned and premeditated acts as such massive attacks in different places simultaneously could not have been carried out without prior planning. It could have been done only with the support and active participation of an organization and not an individual”, he pointed out.

Holding the state government fully responsible for the attacks, which could have been prevented, Walter Maben said “either the intelligence department of the state was extremely inefficient or they desisted from providing this knowledge to their superiors or the government might have deliberately ignored such prior information knowing fully well its implications”, he argued.

Walter Maben pointed out that after specifically naming the attackers in the interim report and also castigating the police for their role in shielding the attackers, he has completely changed tracks and has glossed over important aspects while giving the final report.

Terming the Commission report as an eye wash Maben said “the commission is fully aware who the attackers are and have full knowledge about the misdeed of the police. But it deliberately chose to ignore the truth. We reject this report because it tries to exonerate the attackers and their sympathizers in the government”.

Mariamma Thomas, human right activist and catholic leader who first addressed the gathering termed 14th September 2008 as the black day. She started her speech with the slogan “Beke beku nyaya Beku” and the crowd responded with equal ardor. Taking a dig at Justice Somshekar she said that Justice Somshekar completely negated his own findings which he had mentioned in the interim report, may be out of fear of losing his post. He had asked some manipulative questions during the inquiry, but we cooperated thinking that he would give justice to us, she stated.

Commenting on the issue of conversion raised by the commission she asserted “yes, we will do conversions, but not the conversions which Justice Somshekara has mentioned. We will convert uneducated into educated one, the sick into healthy individuals, convert poor into rich and convert those who are sad into happy people. This is the message we learnt from Christ and we will do it”.

Fr Onil D Souza, Director of Canara Organizations for Development and Peace (CODP) read out the reasons for rejecting the report and also the demands put forth in the memorandum to be handed over to the Chief Minister. He said the report is rejected on the grounds that the report recommends special census of religious institutions, it has failed to identify persons who have attacked the church, it has given a clean chit to the police and the officials and that the report fails to give a total picture of the attack in the entire state.

The memorandum submitted to the government demands withdrawal of all pending cases, handing over the inquiry to the CBI, identifying the culprits and taking necessary legal actions against them, adequate compensation to individuals and institutions affected during the attack, create conducive atmosphere for minorities to live peacefully and not to initiate additional laws aimed at curtailing the fundamental rights of the citizens. The Bishop Aloysius Paul D Souza then handed over the Memorandum to Dy Commissioner of Police R Ramesh.

The attendance of thousands of Christians in the grounds was nothing but a show of solidarity. The peaceful nature of the protest rally demonstrated the peace loving nature of Catholics who dispersed as silently as they had congregated.

MP Oscar Fernandes,  Rev Dr John Sadananda, Bishop of CSI Karnataka Southern  diocese,  Rev Dr Mawrence Mukkuzhy, BIshop of Belthangady Diocese, Rev Dr Geevarghese Mar Divannaisious, Bishop of Puttur Diocese and Rev Bishop C L Furtado, Retd CSI Bishop  were present at the congregation at Nehru Maidan.

A clear and solid response dear Reema. I am a Christian by birth but it doesn't mean that by choice I am not a Christian. Jesus was a very challenging personality. I love him and I am glad to be counted as one of his followers, a Christian. Jesus never degraded his fellow beings. He accepted them as they were, which means with their thought patterns, life-styles and with their own self-identity. But today's majority of 'Christians' are living in an utter ignorance.

They are not at all aware of the richness of cultures, religions and customs beyond the bounderies of Christian mission compounds. Many of the comments in this series are the best exaples for this argument. My dear Christian brothers and sisters, please see the world with open eyes. Come out of your self-constructed boundaries. Love your neighbours as they are, with their strong religious faiths, cultural practices and customs. That is when you would experience the Kingdom of God or Raamaraajya. This comment is not on the article but on the comments that devalue the very core of Christian faith.

Violence, both physical and mental or of any types for that matter, is condumnable. If this protest is towards that end, let us all support such struggles. But let it not to claim that we, the Christians alone possess 'the truth' whereas the rest live in 'darkness'.

    Dear Sohan,

    1) I don know about conversion, there is no concept like conversion in my religion. We believe all religion preach love and peace.
    2) I can see more poverty in your own bothers and sisters, especially in Haity why cant you go there and serve them..?? No, because they are already 80% Roman Catholics & 16% pretestants. They need u r service badly Sohan.
    3) Your education institutions, which are only for rich peoples sons and daughters because u r convents are asking too much fees and donations. A service with Means.

Dear Sohan, Jesus said to " Love our neighbours as ourselves.." i.e love other religion as ourselves, respect their belives as ourselves. But u failed to follow His own words, and as a result all these bad incidents. Ask for mercy from your own Lord and live n let leave. Plzzzzzzz....

One is tempted to compare this wonderful gathering to ones that we are used to in recent years - so called samaveshas where goons intimidate the rest of the population, and women wont even dare to venture out in the streets - and those women who do have the misfortune of being on on the streets during the samavesha being molested and harrassed in the most brutal fashion.

Yes, this is not the annual "eve-teasing" or "Goonda" Samavesha, and we are proud of this gathering of noble men and women

Ms. Reema, What do you know about conversion. Have you ever been asked to convert yourself. Go and see your so called religion's brothers and sisters, they are starving for food, they are in poverty, they are not getting proper education, they are facing unemployment problems. Why don't you go and help them. You can't see Christians helping others. We are the one who have established many educational institutions to educate India irrespective of religion, we are the one who are teaching the way of life. It doesn't mean we are converting people from one religion to other. It is the conversion of being educated, living a better life and being a human being in the society. This message is not only for you, but to all my non-Christian brothers and sisters. We are peace lovers, let us be in peace. Praise the Lord.

Hi Rajesh,People like you will always have only one reason to blame christians, "CONVERSION" because there are no other reasons to fix them.you people are jealous of christians for their standard of living. It's christains who taught you people to wear pant & shirt,it's we who taught you to write in english,it's we who taught you eat like human being,it's because of christains the development you see in this nation today or else today india would have been like somalia or ethopia.India is a free nation and people have every right to accept the religion of their choice and nobody can stop them in the name of conversion.Be rational in your thoughts and deeds.Good Luck

It is most gratifying to see Christians of all denominations join hands as children of God and Mother Earth to fight for Justice and a common cause. Due to health reasons I was not able to attend the Morcha but certainly I took the opportunity to speak with Father William Menezes - The PRO of The Mangalore Diocese and shared my thoughts with him well in advance.

In the past all the Governments have recognized and valued the services of The Christians to the people of D.K. As rightly said by Our Bishop A.P. indeed Christians have converted people from POVERTY TO WELL BEING, from SICKNESS TO HEALTH, from IGNORANCE TO ENLIGHTENMENT , from NON-EDUCATION to EDUCATION. THESE ARE THE CRIMES OF THE CHRISTIANS. Look at Hebick Institute of The CSI, Let the government take a good look at institutions like Father Muller's Hospital, St. Antony's Ashram, Little Sisters of The Poor, Mother Teresa's Home, St. Aloysius schools and colleges, St. Agnes schools and colleges and a lot more. These are witnesses of the crimes committed by The Christians.

Our dignitaries stated that the Somshekhara report should be rejected. No" The report should be condemned. 14Th September 2008 has gone down in history as the darkest day and instead of booking the people who perpetuated the crime, innocent people have been jailed. Hope The Home Minister's assurances will be honored and will not remain a myth.

Kudos to you Bishop A.P., Bishop Sadanand, Bishop Lawrence, Bishop Mukkuzhy, Bishop Geevarghese and Bishop Furtado for the participation in a common fight against injustice.

Congratualtions Daijiworld for publishing a complete report of the rally. I was present for the rally with my parish priest Fr. Lawrence Mascarenas, it was a memorable event to behold. We Christians have shown our strength. We may be minority, but when united we can show our strenght too. But I want to tell all those who pose to be friends of our parish priests, who speak a lot in meetings, but were not present for such an important meeting of show of strength. Our parish priest had invited all those who have vehicles to join the rally, but none turned out to be there for this cause. This is Christian hypocracy. We want things, but we do not cooperate. It was a life time opportunity offered by my Catholic Sabha colleague Peter Fernandes to offer my services as a Volunteer in this Historical event in Mangalore. Hundred of us standing in side the ground near the markers showing the path to be taken by these surging, silent, black donned, Children, Teen, Men, Women waving Black Flags. My heart leapt with joy sending adrenaline in to my blood, shivers ran up to my spine seeing the never ending waves of ‘Silent Lambs’ pertains to Mangalore Diocese.
We broke line to make place for this oceanic surge. But I was astounded to see the disciplined and cultured nature of my own people.
Some one whispered in my ear it was “Thyagi’s Bill” Protest brought out about 25,000 crowds in this same ground, my brother Austin D’Souza Prabhu will vouch for it. But today it will be more than treble.
I along with my colleague Francis ventured back side of the venue to take stock of the numbers. We lost our selves in the Oceanic crowd waving Black Flags till the end of the fenced Football Ground. It was a marvelous experience finding People perched thickly in the second Cricket Ground and Road side fencing. My Colleague exclaimed nearly a LAC. I muttered the same.
It was a Historic moment in Mangalore a Protest attended by Main and Sectarian Christians, showing Unity and Disciplined Strength to oppose the un warranted Soma Shekar Commission Report submitted to the State Government.
We want TRUTH, nothing but TRUTH.

I condemn this show of strength by christians. This is to allow them to continue conversion as barging chip rather than anything to do with Somashekar report. Many of you have convinently ignored the fact that cause of church atacks in Mangalore. Conversions do take place and the convertees are shy to come out in open to admit it due to fear of doles getting stopped or mistreatment by missionaries. Its all sham and myth to assume that ones social and economical status would change once one change the religion. Its due BJP rule in karnataka, the attack didnot assume the proportion of what happened to sikhs in New Delhi. So better stop conversion by fraud, allurement and deception than crying wolf every time. This gathering of mass shows the particiapnts are either paid or ordered during sunday mass to participate in demonstrations to draw attention world leaders to purport that christians are treated badly in India.

The evil one's job to create panic, destruction, say lies and ultimately they will finish in their own trap which they had used for others. Today we have living example and this is the truth and reality. Isn’t it is more disgusting & shameful when their own group members acknowledged the attack and asking for forgiveness from the Christian community. Always truth wins on the long run.

    Dear Ravi,
    With reference to your question:
FIRST U PEOPLE FIND OUT WHO IS DOING FORCE CONVERSION AND WHO IS PUBLISH THE BOOK AGAIST HINDU GOD.-
Please tell me what is forced conversion.
With regard to the derogatory book published against Hindu God is not by Christian but by a Hindu, who claims that he has converted to Christianity and this has happened almost 12 years back in Andra Pradesh.. It is written in Telugu. Who has translated in English and the printing press which published it. They should catch both and it should be the act of police department. There is set of rules designed to follow.
Any book which published by any body or claims to belong to any religion, the entire religious body should not be held responsible as it is not published under their name. Catch the individual and punish them. We have nothing to do. Even New Life has disowned that they have absolutely no knowledge about it. . So there is something fishy in the entire incidents. That is why we Christians ask for CBI enquiry. Why can’t the govt. catch the book writer, printing press and publish their name. Is the govt. is scared to do so. Let the real truth come out.

Even if the govt doesnt take any action after the march our numbers did show a rare unity.Contrary to claims of 70000 people attending the march i feel the number was close to 2 lac cause the distance covered was about 2KM which is 2000mtrs.There were 5 people in a row so for every 1 mtr(3.5ft) there were 10 people marching. Hence 2000 mtrs would have 2lac..! this is from the fact that when the mouth of the procession reached Nehru Maidan the tail just left Balmatta. Truly amazing.

Now is the high time for christian young people to take leadership in politics and be the voice of poorest among poor by giving every one equal right and opportunity in all fields without considering ones caste, culture and stauts. Also be the example to others how to rule the society without being bias , without being communal, united with all with peace and harmony.

Simply asking for a CBI investigation does not help. There must be adequate Christian representation within the CBI investigation team. Nowadays institutions like CBI also can be bought. Before CBI raids places in the country the people who get raided already come to know and destroy all evidence. Even forensic tests get manipulated before results are out.

We are fighting a very corrupt system. The Justice Somasekar Commission report is one such example where lots of money may have been paid. How can continuous destruction of church property in multiple locations within the cities and within the whole state be handiwork of a few miscreants? It is clear it is a well organized, well planned and well orchestrated established setup which is responsible for this.

I also remember when I attended Pope John Paul's mass in Delhi on his 2nd visit to India, policemen were so happy to see the crowd entering peacefully the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. They had words of appreciation for the orderliness with which these people entered the stadium, which never happens when a Cricket match is played. I am so proud to belong to the commuinty of Christians which is so orderly. Congratulations to the peaceful protest.

My beloved Christian brothers and sisters at the very outset we have given a best example to the people around us that we are the peace loving persons.... Our contribution to the society is unthinkable and no one can meet us the way we approach the people in the field of education, medical and other activities. Today we deprived of our fundamental rights.. Justice Somashekara cheated us to save his life for the safer side.. Let us not stop our voice until we get a right justice to the pain, sufferings and mental torture that we undergone... Let shall stay united not only today or tommorow but till the end to face any kind of challenges and risks that comes ahead of us..

I appreciate all for the greater contribution shown on peace protest. We shall be strenghtend by the Lord Jesus Christ to Persevere in our faith.

Great show guys, I guess after Mubarak it is now Yedurappa’s turn.

I would also like to place on record the following:

20th February 2011: Charlie Chaplin’s grandson Mark Joplin (60) married Terra Tiffany (52) at Karnataka’s Gokarna according to Hindu rituals. Both are Christians and from the US.
6th August 2010: Hollywood superstar and Christian Julia Roberts converted to Hinduism in the hope of having a peaceful life in her next incarnation.
29 August 2001: Thousands of whites and blacks from different religions and races have joined Karishna society ‘ISKCON’. They make gatherings in streets, dance and sing…Hare Rama Hare Krishna…are proud of this conversion, happily call themselves Hindus.

I guess my learned brothers can now understand who is converting who and please do not bring up this Christians converting Hindu’s myth again, at least not amongst educated audience.

Marching in solidarity is good in that it can indicate the resolve of the Christian people, however it is a real insult to your office of Bishop(s), that you were scorned by the Chief Minister of Karnataka in his refusal to meet you all.
Everybody understands that the State was complicit, if not totally responsible for the outrage that was perpetrated on our Churches and holy places.
The great shame here, Your Excellencies is that you fail to grasp that the warfare you need to adopt is that of Pope John Paul 11nd's, who utilized the Seige of Jerico (7 days of 24 hour Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with non-stop recitation of the Rosary throughout the country, which had the end result of bringing down that Communist Government in Poland and throughout that Eastern Bloc).
St. Paul instructs us in Ephesians 6:12 that our battle is in reality against the demonic forces that move people to such destruction of our holy places. In 2nd Corinthians 10:4 he tells us that our weapons are spiritual, rather than merely carnal, for the pulling down of strongholds. If you Bishops in reality want to change things on the ground there in your dioceses you need to realize that you have in command there Hindu strongholds which can only be defeated by the power of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother in our praying the Rosary through her intercession. Remember Lepanto. Remember Guadaloupe. Remember your Catholic martys of India.

Shetty, Mangalore, get rid of your arrogance. Hindus have amicably lived with all other religions without fear. The question is violence in the name of religion in needs to be condemned. Do you advocate attack on places of any religion. Forceful conversions should be condemned and an individual's right to choose a religion of his or her choice should by all means defended. Otherwise you yourself seem to live your religion out of compulsion as you don't seem believe in the right to believe and worship a God of your choice. God is one and let individuals decide what to believe. It is at this point we need to uphold the right to change religion without fear of being beheaded in the name of God.

The attacks on the Churches by
    the radical elements of the
    society was investigated by
one man operation: and it turned
to be absolutely unfair and surprising.

    Now the Christian community has
taken the next step to dig down
the issue, and fighting to be investigated by the CBI for a fair
    conclusion of the sensitive
    issue.

    The Christians are not protesting
in rage or through any form of
    destruction, and the peace-loving
    people of all religions can
    understand the difference of a
    Christian rally and a political
    rally.

I don't want to call names of anybody who is trying to bring
    the issue of "conversion" into
this march of the Christians, who
    are simply displaying their pain
    of injustice and unfair verdict
by Justice Somsekhar. If people are converting from one religion to
    another religion as their own
choice, nobody has the right to
    attack anybody's places of worship.
Are we living in the 14th century?

"People who fly into a rage
always make a bad landing". We
Christians are not going to fly
into a rage, but walking with
peace and love and we will win
    the game one day.

Dear Rajesh, you are right we need to raise our voice against the issues bothering the society- thats what we are trying to convey "Justice denied" where is the rule of the Land - we are denied justice. Is it because of the loop holes in our constitution??? or to gain political mileage?? or lack of political will power??? Justice to the society comes first. The rest would follow automatically whether it is corruption or scams or other social issues - if the law of the land (Judiciary) or the administrative body is doing its best to uphold the law of the land such a rally wouldn't have been a necessity. We as a citizens of India are doing our bit within the permissible limits of the constitution to bring into the light the failure of the administrative body.

These kind of protests are very important so that our leaders understand the future consequences that need be avoided at all costs and under all circumstances.

The world is filled with so many demonstrations these days because the leaders somehow fail to empathize the consciece of mankind and tend to ignore the reality of life. We pray to God that this world may be blessed with some dynamic leaders whose voice could bring a magical effect with peace and harmony in addition to the stable economy in this "small world - a beautiful world". Walter Lobo/USA, here bone of content or chord of content is about conversions which can’t be solved by erecting common prayer halls or singing Christmas carols once in a year. For majority of Hindus, conversions is not a agenda at all but only for few whose religious ideology built targeting the minority who do not vote for them during the elections hence, deliberate accusing. This is a passing phase till they get defeated in the next elections.

Until then peace protest rallies are a healthy movement, should go on. Further, to build a common ground, we should stop accusing BJP and also should not rely totally on Congress. Therefore, we, minority winning some of seats during next elections could change the dimension all together as a bargaining chip between BJP and Congress. To achieve this particular balancing act, it might take some few years from now on. Unfortunately, we, peace loving, harmless, educated people realized rather late.

The march for justice is called for. However, we must find a "chord" to unite all religious people- Hindu, Muslim and Christians- that would be the challenge for us. Can we build a Pope John Paul II Common Prayer Shrine at Bajpe and reduce the tensions between the religions?

Let us put our intel together and find a common ground, and build a unity for peace and harmony. AS Christians, we need to lead this challenge. We can not aspect others to take the lead. Even though we are a minority, we are strong in our culture. There shall be no segregation. The spirit of Christmas carol singing with Hindu priests, Muslim Imam and Catholic priest was an outstanding example. May be we can use such example to built unity, which is very much wanted in Mangalore. Thanks

    Dear Shetty,

Christian don't convert anyone forcibly as many of you think (I think you are one of them) They spread the good news of God, among the people and doing unselfish service to the needy. Can you all do that? I don't think.. you people only good in criticising others. The convertion should come within you if you believe. There is no force....

Hi All, To those who say that this rally would lead to differences between various communities. Please try to understand this protest is against the rule of the land whether its the BJP in the state or Congress in the centre or the Local governing body. We Christians were peacefully expressing our grief that they have been denied Justice. It’s shameful to say that the administrative system has failed in providing Justice in-spite of several channels airing the statements of people involved and other supporting documents & Witnesses pertaining to attack. We have never asked as what is the punishment for those involved its for the Law of the land to decide but we are expressing grief against the report that denies the involvement of the culprits, and also against the cases on the Christian youth.
To those who state that we are showcasing political strength - there is no political parties involved, if those in certain political parties have joined the rally they have joined either they are Christians or to express their solidarity to the community - please note that we have not bared any one from joining us All are welcome to express their solidarity with us - Leaders from BJP, JDS & Congress are also welcome without their political agenda, or political intentions. Any likeminded (other community) organisations were also welcome we haven't bared any one to join us to express their solidarity with us.
Please Note: The above are my own views nothing to do with any community

Hope this is only the beginning and not the end. Mammoth peaceful rallies must be organized this way until Justice Somshekara establishes with proof who was behind the attacks. Isn't this for what he was appointed ? I really salute and pray for those who made this unity happen. Reminds me of the great protests by Christians against Tyagi in the '70s.

Don't mix up issues. Hindus and Christians have lived as brothers and Sisters since centuries in this country. The rally is against those who don't deserve to be called human beings. They have no religion. If (In)Justice Somashekhar was a true hindu and had a conscience of the size of a mustard seed, he wouldn't have reported as he did. Well done, Mangalorean Christians...

Mr.Raj,are you are threatening the Rally that they should not walk along with any political party members.Your comment is non-democratic and un ethical. You should learn from them how to make a effective Rally and how to gather thousands of people without arranging luxury buses from villages. In what way does this Rally will change you from a responsible citizen to a Bajarangi who claimed responsibility for this church attack. You are creating havoc in Hindu minds.Wake up man,do not make shame of the peace loving Hindu community of Mangalore.

Mr.Raj should not forget that this country has more than 85% hindu population but could not form a Hindu Government. Therefore one Raj joining the Bajarang does not make any difference because we have 99 Raj mangalore who does not support Bajarang and such governments.

The comments of Raj-Mangalore are totally irresponsible, first of all he is not sure of his future and as he is commenting on a present rally which attended by hundred thousands of responsible Mangaloreans. The members known to you who might be active in so called PDI and PDP whom you saw walking in this mammoth rally.Thier intentions are to protest the injustice done to people irrespective of caste and creed. If this is changing and forcing your mind means you are threatening a community not to join hands with any political or non-political parties. Please read the speech of Bishop and Mariamma. The Christians are not threatened but pained by the inhumane actions of a fraction of people .I believe that there is strong reason and pressure for the justice somashekara to edit the report at the final stage. This is clear threat to the justice system where the elected government involved in creating terror and there after protect the people involved.

I have a different opinion on this. Did we need over two years to wake up to this? I would like to know what agenda is this serving??? are we seeing this as a way to confront the government? i being a catholic would look for a more inclusive approach specially knowing that come elections we will definetely have 10 christians names vying for the same tickets - some can be seen in the pictures and some others are busy organizing other events talking of social causes.

I would say, rather than get caught in this mire, it would be better to take a pragmatic approach and educate the rest of the religions or the so called Rama Sene or Bajrang Dal on the differece between Catholics and the other so called Sects who may be the cause for forcible conversions etc...

Report of Justice Somshekar Commission is totally bogus and baseless. Mr. Shomshekar totally surrendered and obliges RSS, BJP, VHP, Bagaranga, and Rama Sena. Mr. CM ed this person just to fool the people and keeps his chair safe.

If the report proved then it will be challenge for him to escape from it. The time is running out and it is better to withdraw all cases and settle this issue at the earliest.

Our full support, prayers, and best wishes to all our Christian brothers and Sisters, over there and every where.

Mr CM,'Everything is okay in the end.If it's not okay then it is not the end'therefore CM should wake up the prayer of Christian community and hand over this henious crime against humanity of Church attacks to CBI else this is begninning of the peacful agitation and continues untill goal is reached.

The entire Catholic community feels insecure over the issue and the subsequent Justice Somashekar Committe report pours the salt for the wounds. Therefore time is ripe to give this case to CBI.
