Kundapur, May 16: “The government has implemented several programmes for education in rural areas and provided shelter to students so that children may not be deprived of education. Residential school is constructed for the growth of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe. Those facilities should be used,” said minister of fisheries, port and inland water transport S Angara. He was speaking after inaugurating the building for education of boys and girls after matric costing Rs 4.25 crore at Byndoor, V J Nagar.
Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty who presided over the programme, said that talented people receive opportunities by themselves. “Good achievement is possible with proper foundation in education. The government has provided crores for this ambitious project. Residential school teachers should provide a suitable environment and make sure that the maximum number of students make use of it,” he said.
District panchayat chief executive Prasanna H, Kundapur assistant commissioner K Raju, Ramu Byndoor, tahsildar Shobhalaxmi, taluk panchayat executive officer S Bharati and BJP mandal president Deepak Kumar Shetty were present.
The minister, MLA and contractor Prashanth Molavalli were felicitated. ITDP project officer Doodpeer P K G S gave a keynote address. Social welfare department assistant director Raghavendra R Vernekar welcomed. Teacher Sudhakar P Byndoor compered the programme and rendered a vote of thanks.
