Kabir Murder Case: Identities of Accused Revealed, More Arrests Likely

Mangalore, Mar 1: A special team formed by city police commissioner, Seemanth Kumar Singh, nabbed six of the accused in connection with the murder of Kabir, who was allegedly involved in the murder cases of Polali Ananthu and Sukhanand Shetty. Kabir was murdered a few days ago in Charavu, Gurpur. The identities of the arrested were revealed by Singh here at a press meet on Tuesday March 1.
Ravi alias Tikki Ravi alias Annappa Swami, a resident of Haveri, Naga alias Nagaraj Poojary, a resident of Thokkottu, Tilakraj Shetty, a resident of Thokur, Chethan alias Chethu, a resident of Kodikere, Sahan alias Shaan of Ullal, Lokesh alias Loku of Thokur are the arrested.
A Scorpio used by them to commit the brutal act has already been seized by the police. All the arrested are in the age group of 25 to 30 years, except Sahan alias Shaan, a student, who is 19 years old.
Cases registered against the accused in various stations are as follows: one case at Mangalore Rural station and two at Suratkal station on Chethan; one each at Uppinangady and Kavoor stations on Thilakraj Shetty; one case at Urva, four at Kavoor, five at Barke and two at Bunder stations on Tikki Ravi; 11 cases at Panambur, two at Suratkal stations on Lokesh; and one case each at Uppinangady and Panambur stations on Nagaraj. The charges include murder, attempt to murder and assault.
Seemanth Kumar Singh told presspersons that the team made the arrests based on clues provided by an expert police team. Some more arrests are likely to be made in the next few days. He also said that police teams have been keeping tight vigil to avert any such incident in the future.
Singh awarded Rs 10,000 to the police team headed by Panambur sub-division assistant police commissioner M Puttamadaiah for succeeding in this operation.
