Kundapur, May 30: The prime accused Azeez (32) and his associate Rahim (34) of Moodugopadi along with two others from Kasargod in the abetment of Shilpa Devadiga's (25) suicide case have been taken into custody by the Hemmadi police and produced before the court on Monday, May 30.
While Azeez will be in police custody till June 6, Rahim will be in judicial custody for 14 days. Azeez's brother Abdul Khader (45) and Rashid (25) from Kasargod were nabbed for helping Azeez.
The police under the guidance of DySP Srikanth K, Circle Inspector Gopikrishna, Sub-Inspectors Sridhar Nayak, Sadashiva Ganaroji had launched a manhunt for the absconding accused.
It may be recalled that Shilpa Devadiga had ended her life after consuming poison over a love affair in Kundapur.
The victim's family had accused Azeez of enacting a drama of love and had threatened her to convert to Islam. Hindu organisations had even alleged that Shilpa was a victim of 'love jihad' and the police had recovered a letter from Shilpa's residence.
