Thai Kannada Balaga celebrates 'Ugadi Sambrahma' at Holiday Inn, Bangkok

Bangkok, May 31: Thai Kannada Balaga (TKB), an association of Kannadigas living in Thailand, celebrated “Ugadi Sambrahma” on May 29 2022 at Holiday Inn, Sukhumvit Soi 22,Bangkok.

The festival celebrations was kicked off by Aparna Patwardhan, director of SVCC Bangkok graced the occasion as chief guest. The recitation of the prayer by Lavanya and the Thai and Indian National anthem was followed by lightning of the lamp by Aparna Patwardhan, SwarnaKamath, Ramani, Chandramma and Lingaraju.

In a passionate speech, the chief guest Aparna Patwardhan appealed to the hundreds of people gathered about the rich cultures in Karnataka, the festival and celebrations. She encouraged the audience to participate in the Indian cultural events held by Indian dispora of Thailand to preserve and spread the knowledge of our rich culture. Later, Rashmi Ravi felicitated the chief guest.

TKB president Subramanya Nilkeri extended a warm welcome followed by introduction of the newly elected committee members as secretary Shivaprasad Poojary, treasurer Dilip Kumar and TKB office bearers Shamanth Sanjiva, Guruprasad Bhat, Praveen, Nayana Bhat, Ranjeetha Rao and Shobha Mallaiah.

Guruprasad Bhat and Nayana Bhat compered the program. The main stage line-up featured performances started by mesmerizing Bharatnatyam performance by the founder of Soundarya NatyaKalalaya Foundation- Aarthi Jutani and her students Suhasini Vaddi and Parineetha Tangirala.

Lavanya, Rashmi, and Akshatasung a melodious Kannada song which depicts the celebration of the Ugadi festival. While Bhuviprisha and Prisha Shamanth left the audience spell bound with their dance performances, Cianna’s cheerful peppy dance was loved by all.

Further glorifying our culture, Murali Mohan and his daughter Pavani presented the naughtiness of lord krishna’s childhood through their kathak performance. The Kathak performance left all the audience totally enthralled.

A special tribute to Punith Raj Kumar was dedicated, Annapoorneshwari narrated about the life story of the actor. The audience were moved by Ravi Mysore’s song for the same and young members of TKB Srivatsa Bhat, Chiraksh Gowda, Yathin Gowda, Ghena Shamanth, Vihaan Rao and Ishika Devadiga along with special entry by Guruprasad and Dilipset the stage on fire with a mind blowing performance and astonished the viewers.

TKB had organized “Amara MadhuraPrema” Facebook photo contest wherein the contestants sent their wedding pictures. Delora and Roshan Pinto won the contest with highest number of likes. They even entertained us with energetic performance. Nayana and VijethHegde danced their heart out to classic kannada songs.

After delicious Indian lunch, Shobha Mallaiah and Ranjeetha Rao created a fun-filled environment by conducting a variety of entertaining games with lots of prizes. A special couple games was conducted for couples who had completed 25 years of their marriage. Ravi Mysore and Rashmi won the couple game followed by games for the kids.

The new members introduced themselves and expressed their happiness to be a part of the event. TKB extended heartfelt thanks to their sponsors- Dakshin restaurant, Vrindavan restaurant, Kruaboon Thai Restaurant, AIA insurance, Cris Go (Thailand) Co., Ltd and 3-D Precision Pvt. Ltd.

On behalf of entire TKB committee, Shamanth Sanjiva rendered the vote of thanks. The program was concluded with a group photo by John Wilson Pinto (pintocreations) who also volunteered for the photo and videography of the entire event.
