Woman stabbed in Delhi


New Delhi, Jun 2 (IANS): A 26-year-old woman was attacked with a sharp object by an unidentified man after which she was admitted to a local hospital in the national capital, an official said on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Benita Mary Jaiker said an information was received from Max Hospital on May 31 at 12.00 a.m. that a woman aged 26 years, a resident of Pushp Vihar, Saket, had been admitted with an injury on her neck.

As the police reached the hospital, they found that the woman was receiving treatment.

In her statement to the police, the victim stated that the incident occured when she went to church in Saidulajab from her home.

"While she was returning on foot, at around 8.50 p.m. near SDM office at MB road, one unknown person aged about 22-24 yrs came from behind and cut her throat with some sharp object," the DCP said.

After this the woman was shifted to Max Hospital. Her condition is now said to be stable.

Accordingly, the police has registered a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

Investigation is underway, the official added. No arrests have been made so far.
