Bangalore, Mar 4: If the B S Yeddyurappa-led BJP Government has its way, the Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) at Devanahalli in the city outskirts could well be named after Bangalore’s legendary founder, Kempe Gowda.
In a written reply to D K Shivakumar of the Congress during the zero hour in the Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said the next Cabinet meeting would take a decision on the issue and submit a proposal to the Centre urging it to name the BIAL after Kempe Gowda.
Shivakumar said the Delhi airport has been named after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Mumbai airport after Chatrapathi Shivaji.
The State Government should also take steps to name the BIAL afterKempe Gowda, who had built the Bangalore, he demanded.
