Kasargod, Mar 6: As a part of five-day religious festivities at the Enmakaje Beedina Mane near Perla here including the annual 'Nemotsava' of the traditional Pilichamundi Raktheshwri and Parivara Daivas of the Enmakaje house was held from Tuesday March 1 to Saturday 5 with gaiety and fervour.
The colourful and auspicious 'Pilichamundi Daiva Nemotsava’ was attended by approximately 5,000 people from the family, the surrounding 'gramas' (villages) and people from the state as well as outside.
The Enmakaje house has a history of more than 450 years from where the rich tradition of the nine 'Bhootas' can be traced. These bhootas are Pilichanmundi (the Rajan or main bhoota), Gulige, Sathyadevatha, Korathi, Posa bhoota, Chalena bhoota, Rakhtheswari bhoota among others.
Although for ages the Nemothsava was performed albeit on a small scale, the turning point came in 1994 when a fire destroyed the sacrosanct temple edifice and after a lot of deliberation from family elders, work began on the reconstruction of temple which was completed in 2004. Since then every year the customary 'Nemothsava' ceremony has been performed mostly on March 3, 4 and 5, but now it is done on March 1 and 2 as well to add the 'sangeetha bhajana' and 'kirthana' functions as well.
The present 'yejamane' (family head) is Enmakaje Vishwanath Rai representing the entire clan at all functions and religious ceremonies being conducted. On all five days of the function there is provision made for meals, tea, snacks to be served to the guests and locals.
The rituals were performed under the guidance of chief priest Delampady Balkrishna Tantri. Sri Mohandas Paramahamsa Swami of Manila Sridhama, Sri Yogananda Saraswati Swami, BJP leader K surendran, former MLA Shankuntala Shetty, Keshavanda Bharatiya Swamiji among others graced the occasion.
Various cultural programmes were organized. There was bhakti geethe recital by Ganesh Desai, Bangalore among other programmes. Prominent member of the Enmakaje House Sudhir Shetty of UAE Exchange and senior members of Enmakaje house were present on the occasion.
