Beltangady: 27 Couples Marry in Mass Wedding Organized by Swastik Friends Club

Beltangady, Mar 6: A mass wedding programme alongwith conferring of Swasti Siri State Awards was organized by Swastik Friends Club ®, Punjalkatte, near here, on Sunday March 6. It was organized to mark their 27th annual day celebrations.
The procession of bridegrooms and brides began from Punjalkatte Government School playground to the venue at Raghavendra temple ground, Punjalkatte, in Pilatabettu village.
Vedamurti Krishna Bhat, chief priest, Govind Krishna temple, Guruvayanakere, wedding rituals.
Swami Brahmanand Saraswati of Rama temple, Kanyady, and Krishna Shetty of Kashimeera–Mira Road inaugurated the procession.
Mumbai-based Bunts Sangh promoted Mathrabhoomi Credit Society Limited chairman Chelladka Kusumodhar D Shetty presided over the annual day celebrations.
Former union minister Dhananjay Kumar and Swami Muktanand of Laxmi Satyanarayan Veeranjaneya temple, Karinje, inaugurated the programme.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel was the chief guest.
Minister Krishna J Palemar, former minister B Nagaraj Shetty, and state BJP vice-president Sulochana G K Bhat were the guests of honour.
The annual Swasti Siri National Awards were conferred on Mumbai-based entrepreneur Bhaskar Shetty Kashimeera–Mira Road (health sector), Sesappa Kotian Pacchinadka (social service), Sridar Bhandary Puttur (Yakshagana), H K Nayanadu (theatre), and Subramanya K M (sports).
Swasti Sambram Awards were conferred on Karnoor Mohan Rai (organizing theatre programmes), Jitendra S Kottari (youth entrepreneur), Rons Bantwal (journalism), Marappa Poojary Moorje (co-operative sector) and Mohammed Punjalkatte (government service). Ramesh Rai Kukkuvalli accepted the Award on behalf of Karnoor Mohan Rai.
Divakar Shetty Mudrady, Bhoja Mohan Shettty Mira Road, Harish Kumar Shetty Mira Road, Balakrishna P Bhandary, Kalattoor Vishvanath Shetty, Suresh Shetty Yeyyady, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, former MLAs A Rukmaya Poojary, K Padmanabha Kottari and Prabhakar Bangera Beltangady, Shailaja V Bhat, Nithyanand Poojary Siddakatte, local elders, and social activists were specially invited guests present on the occasion.
Twenty-seven couples were married off during the mass wedding programme that was sponsored by Mumbai’s young entrepreneur Bunts Sangh Mira – Bhayandar regional committee president Munnaliguttu Sacchidanand Shetty. Each couple was presented with a ‘mangalasutra’, wedding dress, and fixed deposit certificate each in joint names for sums of Rs 10,000.
Swastik Friends Club president Prashanth Punjalkatte, honorary president P Abdulla, Vivek Amtoor, Uday Kumar Kattemane, Jitendra Kottari, and other office-bearers were present on the dais.
P M Prabhakar welcomed the gathering. B Ramachandra Rao compered the programme and secretary Jayaraj Aptaje proposed the vote of thanks.
