CM Basavaraj Bommai seeks report as Covid cases spike in Karnataka


Bengaluru, Jun 6 (IANS): Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has sought a report from the principle secretary of the state's health department in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases.

Bommai on Monday further stated that he would initiate action after going through the report.

"I have a sought report in the backdrop of spike in the numbers of Covid. Health Department principle secretary has informed that he will convey district wise meeting and submit the report."

Based on that, decisions would be taken and no need to get panic, he stated.

Regarding the distribution of compensation to the families of people who died of Covid during the second wave last year, Bommai said that the funds have been released and if anyone is left out, they will be compensated.

Karnataka's new Covid numbers crossed the 300-mark in the last 24 hours.

The state reported 301 new Covid cases, while Bengaluru alone registered 291 infections.

The positivity rate has jumped to 1.40 per cent.

One death was reported in same period hours and number of total active cases stood at 2,414 in the state. The active cases in Bengaluru are 2,294 while 21,413 tests were conducted in the state till Sunday evening.

    bommayya bhai bayankara comedy malthondh uller yankleg daala bodchi eerna offers BJP atao this is our aim now. We all expected something good from you bommayya bhai, but you are unfit for ruling our Karnataka state, you destroyed our beautiful Karnataka by using religions you separated our beloved brothers from Hindu/christian/Muslim etc, we were very happy with our Siddu and yeddi bhai ruling they are the best CM ever Mr. Bommai We kindly request you to resign from current post. We need peace in Karnataka

    this is biological warfare... whenever the pandemic subsides, fresh wave is released... now add monkeypox into this scene... most of us are hearing the word monkeypox for the first time... the disease which was confined to africa is now all of a sudden found in many countries outside africa... and these infected people have not even visited africa... looks like the disease is released from some laboratory.... some countries are having conspiracy to slow down social and economic growth in the rest of the world...

    Now after RS, and MLC election, all the ministers are free for some time. So they remembered about Covid19 and started to put ristrictions. In 2020 and 21 this Government used maximum word" Covid19", and in 2022 sofar" Hijab. " That's their achievement.
