Mangaluru: Well-known biker Syed Mohammed Salim passes away at 31

Mangaluru, Jun 7: Renowned Bullet bike rider and former employee of Varthabharathi daily, Syed Mohammed Salim Tangal (31), resident of Jara House near Arekala in Ullal died on Tuesday June 7 afternoon at a private hospital of Thokottu.

Salim was ill since some months and was in hospital for treatment. He succumbed to the illness. He was unmarried.

Mohammed Salim had toured India and overseas countries along in Bullet bike. He was member of Bulls Club of city and toured India, Nepal and Bhutan in 39 days and covered 12,635 km. He was employed in the Gulf and used to take long bullet bike rides whenever he used to come to Mangaluru.

In 2018 January, he rode the bike from Mangaluru to Mumbai in 38 hours covering 2,210 km. In the same year, he covered a 2,500 km ride to Hyderabad also.

Salim toured all over India to create road safety awareness. He visited more than 100 villages during his travel and had discussions with them with regards to the wearing of helmets, following of road rules, avoiding over speeding etc.
