Udupi, Jun 8: An Instagram page 'Maarigudi' announced a cash reward of Rs 20 lac to behead BJP leader Yashpal Suvarna from Udupi and chief of Sri Ram Sena Pramod Muthalik.
A case has been filed against the Maarigudi page in Kaup police station by BJP Yuva Morcha activists. The activists also demanded to hold probe and take action against the admin of the page.
Reacting to media queries, Yashpal Suvarna said, “I do not bother about the page. But, I would be happy to know the person who declared the price for my head. The person who issued the threat do not know my worth. Hence, I do not bother about it. I have never taken an alternative way. I lead my life by earning. I have not compromised in the issues of my country in the past or will ever do so in future.
“I have risen to this position by facing challenges like comments, threats, and rumours. So, I will not bother about threats. Thinking about the future of students, I have stated that the hijab is a threat to students. Though the threats issued may be connected to the issue of hijab or not, there will no compromise. I do not think such threats will hinder me. There is no question of seeking a gunman for such threats.
“I have grown through organizations in the name of Hindutva. In my social life, I have worked for several institutions and organizations. I will not sit at home by fearing such threats. People may create pages from other states or countries. The government should trace those sending messages from our district. If the people who are on this page belong from our place, they are a threat.
“Such activities will create a phobia in minds of our activists and their families. It also creates confusion among the party workers. Hence, the people behind the Maarigudi page should be traced. The terrorist of Jammu Kashmir was driving an auto in Bengaluru for 10 years. People with beards wearing caps may be behind this page. It may be a strategy to threaten Hindus. Udupi district is organized and knows how to react to situations,” he said.
