Mangaluru, Jun 8: A man was arrested for misbehaving with a woman passenger on a bus.

The arrested is identified as Mohammed Mustafa, a resident of B C Road.

Sherline Martha, the complainant was travelling to Mangaluru from Bengaluru in a private bus at about 5 am on June 7 for an interview when a person reportedly acted indecently with her. The lady informed about it to the driver and other passengers. Upon confrontation by the passengers, the accused said that his name is Mohammed Mustafa and he is a resident of B C Road and challenged the occupants of the bus to complain against him. He fled from the bus when it stopped at Pumpwell bus stop.

Martha visited Kankanady police station in the night on June 7, after finishing her interview. She lodged a police complaint of indecent behaviour against Mohammed Mustafa. A case under registration No. 63/2022 IPC section 354 was registered in the police station in this connection. Police took Mustafa into custody later.

Without taking any sides; if the matter was so serious, the bus driver should have directly driven it to the nearest police station for further interrogation??

In the western countries, a typical situation of 'boy-meets-girl' in a long bus journey gets converted into romance or possibly marriage. Here in India, it creates unnecessary work for driver, cleaners, passengers, police and news reporters, which is why India is not progressing romantically or scientifically or economically.

Roland Pais MangaloreEast or west male or female ,there is no need of meeting two persons to become lovers or roamance .One has to behave with co traveller to be a gentle man /woman .Not misbehave .When it comes to misunderstanding and behaviour ,conductor has to just transfer him to as eat where men seated.Problem solved .If he still makes problems simply put him out of bus where civilization exists.Or inform Police.
