Mangalore Konkans Dubai’s ‘Golden Voice of UAE’ audition round held

Dubai, Jun 9: Mangalore Konkans Dubai, ‘Golden Voice of UAE 2022’, took off very well on June 5 to a packed audience.

President James Mendonca along with other UAE church coordinators namely Ronald D’Souza – Sharjah, Jeevan Vas – St Mary’s Church Dubai, Royden Roche – Jebel Ali, Kiran Mendonca – Ras Al Khaimah, Vincent Barboza – Fujairah, and Ajay Pinto – Al Ain gathered on the dais and programme started with prayer followed by inauguration with lighting of the lamp and a welcome dance by students trained by Anitha Suresh Keshawan. Also remembered and offered silent prayer for the soul of the late CGS Taccode and the late Sunil Crasta Bajal who left heavenly abode a few days ago.

As many as 53 male and female contestants participated in the contest. Renowned judges, Fr Alwyn Sequeira OCD from Mangaluru, Sonal G Lotilkar from Goa/Dubai, Daryl Mascarenhas from Mangaluru/Dubai judged the competition. As the competition was closely contested the judges had a tough time selecting the best 10 in each category. Names of the top 10, in each category is as follows:

All the finalists must go through a video round with 2 songs which will be recorded and judged and uploaded on YouTube. Finale will be held in early November 2022. One winner in each category will be crowned as Mangalore Konkans Dubai Golden Voice of the UAE 2022 and win a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each.

The judges and dance performers were honoured and certificates were given to the winners by guests Joseph Mathias, Gilbert D’Souza, Lancy D’Souza and Jacintha Mendonca along with the James Mendonca.

Roshan D’Silva briefed the participants on rules and regulations of the competition. There were spot prizes for the games conducted by the MCs. Alwyn Pinto entertained the crowd with his stand-up comedy. Sonal Lotlikar sang Lorna's beautiful number ‘Bebdo’. Judge Fr Alwyn Sequeira and Daryl Mascarenhas opined about contest and gave tips and suggestions to the contestants for their improvisation in future.

Anil Pinto and Preethi D’Souza from Kulshekar Mangaluru were the hosts for the evening.
