HC Directs CID to Complete Probe in Halappa Case by March 31

Bangalore, Mar 8, (PTI): The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to file a chargesheet and complete its probe by March 31 into the allegations of rape against former Food and Supplies Minister H Halappa.

Disposing of a petition filed by the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) seeking CBI probe into the matter, the division bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice A S Bopanna directed the CID to complete its probe by March 31 and asked DIG CID Charan Reddy to personally supervise the investigation.

Halappa, the then Food and Civil Supplies Minister, was forced to resign on May 2, 2010, after his friend Venkatesh Murthy alleged that the minister had raped his wife.

    This so called rape was committed 16 months back. Halappa did have sex that night but now CID has to prove if it was consensual sex or rape. Investigation after such a long period gives the benefit of doubt to Halappa.
    Halappa is a married man with 2 children. Agreed he might have had sex with consent or was framed but proof of his having sex with another woman outside marriage shows his character and this is not a one off accusation. He has a history of such misadventures and a confirmed sex maniac.
    BJP may have given him a lot of time to clean up his tracks and he might get away, but his party needs to do a lot of soul searching and rethink “Is BJP really a party with a difference”?

    Now Nagesh Mamu will surely say that Halappa is an angel but the Italian Pseudos influenced Halappa to do the dirty act. If he had a little self respect, he should have criticized Halappa and the BJP government for the delaying tactics. It is such people who elected this government to power and alas, Yeddi and the ruling party is god for such people so what more can you expect.

    Halappa, don't worry. I remember last time how Yeddy flew to temple to pray for you after your arrest in rape case. This is BJP Karnataka & the world knows how the Judges, Court, CID functions here. Charan "Reddy" is DIG CID....No tension Halappa, you are already pronounced very innocent.     Al last Yeddy made our state equal to Gujarat in all respect other than development.
