Mangaluru, Jun 10: Beary Bhavana of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy is being shifted once again. Though foundation stone was laid for the same at Thokottu in spite of protest by BJP and Sangh Parivar, now alternate land is being identified due to the threats posed by the right wing organizations.

Around 10 years ago, the then president of the academy said that land was identified at Padil. Later the committee which was formed had made the blueprint ready to build Beary Bhavana near Kudupu Baiturli on 20 cents land, which it had bought for Rs 20 lac.

In 2019, when BJP assumed power, Beary academy got a new president and members. They decided to forfeit the idea of building Beary Bhavana at Kudupu and got that amount back and identified land besides Abbakka Bhavana at Thokottu and got sanctioned by the government also.

As protests erupted over the building of the structure at Thokottu its construction was postponed. Once foundation was laid in the presence of religious leaders of the community. This was done by Rahim Ucchil in February this year as he thought that there will not be any opposition as he is leader of BJP.

During the foundation stone laying ceremony, in-charge minister V Sunil Kumar avoided the function as members of BJP, Sangh Parivar and Veera Rani Abbakka committee opposed the construction. MLA U T Khader laid the foundation stone. The speech made by Rahim Ucchil on the occasion turned the BJP party red eyed and he was removed from the post of president of Beary academy without offering any valid reason.

Now one acre of land is identified near Tiblepadavu of Manjanady and an appeal is sent to the commissioner to change the present location. The file is with the tahsildar and the proposal is sent to Karnataka Housing Board. But as there is no president for Beary academy at present, any decision cannot be taken.
