Bengaluru, Jun 10: Governor Thawarchand Gehlot has appointed Dr Cynthia Menezes as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University with effect from Friday, June 10.
Dr Cynthia is a native of Mangaluru and is the Director of the MBA Department and the Dean of the faculty of Commerce at Canara Bank School of Management Studies of Bengaluru.
Dr Cynthia has been appointed the VC in place of Dr Venugopal K R whose tenure ends on June 12 till further orders or a regular person is appointed to the post.
She has had an illustrious career of 25 years in teaching and research experience in the university and higher level Institutions in India. She has successfully guided 13 PhDs so far and currently guiding eight research scholars. She has authored 3 books.
Prior to her career at the Canara Bank School of Management Studies, she has taught Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) students between 1995 to 1998 at Mallamma Marimallappa College (1995 to 1996) and Maharaja’s College (1996 to 1998), Mysuru.
She also has been a lecturer for 12th standard commerce and management papers in the Carmel School and Indian School, Kuwait, between 1988 and 1990. Dr Cynthia also was the computer instructor at Polyglot Language Institute, Kuwait, during the same period.
Dr Cynthia is PhD holder in Business Administration from Bangalore University. Her studies prior to this have been in Mangaluru. She is also a Master in Business Administration with specialization in Advanced Cost Accounting from Mangalore University and stood third in the varsity. She did her Bachelors in Business Management from SDM College, Mangalore University and had secured fourth rank.
Dr Cynthia is the daughter of Casmir and Lucy Menezes of St Dominic Parish, Ashoknagar, Mangalore.
