Pregnant cow stolen, slaughtered for money; police arrest two

Bengaluru, Jun 12 (IANS): Karnataka police have arrested two persons on charges of stealing a pregnant cow and slaughtering it for money in Hennur police station area of Bengaluru, officials said on Sunday.

The accused are identified as Syed Barkat, a resident of HBR Layout and Mohammad Imran of Bilal Nagar near Pillanna Garden. The police have launched a hunt for another accused Sohail in connection with the case.

According to police, Syed and Imran, both auto drivers, had conspired to steal the cow from a neighbour's house for money. His friends Imran and Sohail joined hands with him.

The accused had stolen the cow in the wee hours and then they transported the cattle to a nearby isolated place and slaughtered it. Later they stuffed the meat into a gunny bag and kept it in an auto.

However, the beat police, being suspicious, stopped the vehicle. On which, the accused left the auto and fled from the spot. The police, noticing blood all over the auto, checked the gunny bag they were carrying and found the meat in it.

The accused were transporting the meat to a nearby slaughter house. The police chased the accused and managed to nab two persons while another accused managed to escape.

East Division DCP Bheemashankar Guled has stated that the case has been registered under the provisions of the Anti-Cow Slaughter Act. Further investigation is on.

Just a thought.. If people of so fond of meat, irrespective religion/cast, why not pork ?.. Probably that will satisfy the need of your stomach. If it is written in some book to not eat pork then following it doesn't make sense.. For your information, scientists have developed some variants of cows which have genes of pigs.. You can find this info on the google. . So if the meat from hybrid cows are sold and if you don't know (mostly cows are stolen in the night) that it is having pigs genes, then your beliefs are on a toss and you will be committing even bigger crime of not following your book.. And you just banging every cow theft issue to BJP, JD or police doesn't make sense.. Atleast tell your people (whom you are supporting) to get educated to do a reasonable job (instead of cow theft).

Did you know that pork is available in the gulf and they don't put us in jail for eating it? Your religion is your business, no need to police what other people want to eat. Religion is for peace not for troubling others.

Let's concentrate on human beings rather than cows. Looks like soon human beings will become extinct in India and only cows and buffaloes will remain. Can't see any development in the country.

when one reads my comment he or she may think that i am supporting the cow theft...not at all..i do not support thieves of any kind...but when we call for hanging and encounters...the law should be uniform to all...in fact people who have butchered human beings like animals are still alive in prison...cannot digest the fact...

Cow thiefs need to be encountered. It's enough. Too many cows are being stolen. We have very soft laws for these kind of criminal activities and under patronage of Congress and JDS these criminals don't get punishment. Encounter is the best option.
