Dubai, Mar 10: UAE Tulu Koota, Dubai, in its 20th year of service to Tulu language and culture in UAE is bringing yet another mega Tulu drama to be staged on Friday March 25 at Shaik Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, Dubai.
Mohan Rai Karnoor, convener for ‘Cha Parka’ troupe in Mumbai and Middle East, organizing this event in association with UAE Tulu Koota Dubai, by bringing in famous Tulu drama troupe of Mangalore ‘Cha Parka Kalavidaru’. It is for the fifth time that UAE Tulu Koota will entertain the UAE audience through this troupe and Rai proudly says that no troupe from Mangalore has toured the Middle East so many times.
‘Telikeda Bolli’, Karnataka Rajyothsava award recipient Devdas Kapikad is writer, director and an actor of Cha Parka Kalavidaru. He has staged more than 44 Tulu dramas, exceeding 6,000 shows across the globe, a record which stands tall among all drama troupes of repute.
He will present his two new dramas ‘Badkud Orinda’ and ‘Gopala Ee Parbala’. The former has already entertained thousands of spectators through more than 300 shows in India. It is notable that the success of the drama is so huge that drama lovers from the Kannada-speaking region of coastal Karnataka requested him to translate it to Kannada and he successfully staged 12 shows of the same drama in Kannada ‘Baduki Ulidare’ in Kundapur region.
Rib-tickling comedy scenes, signature dialogues of Kapikad minced with serious social message are the main ingredients of the drama. It has a simple story line - a young man getting married due to the compulsion of his family members, bowing down to the false ego of his parents, but against his personal wish.
The second play is yet another master creation of Kapikad which has already seen 75 houseful shows in and around Mangalore. Story line of this drama is more or less common in undevided Dakshina Kannada district. Even though there are many children in the family, the major responsibility of the family always lies on one person.
C R Shetty, convener, UAE Tulu Koota has requested all fans of Cha Parka troupe to attend a meeting called by UAE Tulu Koota, Dubai, on Friday March 11 at 10.30 am at Venus Deluxe Restaurant, Karama, Dubai.
