Karnataka Congress protests before ED office, party leaders detained

Bengaluru, Jun 13 (IANS): The Karnataka police have taken opposition leader Siddaramaiah and state Congress president D.K. Shivakumar into custody after they tried to lay siege to the Bengaluru office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) along with hundreds of Congress workers on Monday.

The agitation was staged against the serving of notices by the ED to Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi and her son, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and his questioning. The party workers began the protest in front of the Lal Bagh Gate and took out a protest march till the ED office.

They raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government. The police stopped the agitators near the Shanthinagar Bus Terminal Junction.

The Congress leaders tried to jump over the police barricades and move towards the ED office. However, the police stopped them and took the Congress leaders into custody.

Along with Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah, the police also detained Opposition leader in the Legislative Council B.K. Hariprasad, senior leaders M.B. Patil, Eshwar Khandre, Salim Ahmad and others.

Vehicles were stuck on Double Road, Shantinagar and Hosur Road as traffic in Bengaluru was thrown out of gear for more than two hours.

Why agitation and protest ? ED is doing its job. If RaGa is innocent he will come out clean. These Congress people are inviting trouble for RaGa.

Pray for peace in India. Everywhere same shit. Politicians destroying peace everywhere and poor people are the victims of these goons. People elect those who. Maintain law and order and use tax payers money for betterment of society and infrastructure like roads, recreational facilities, hospitals, schools, seniors care etc. neither congress or bjp have any intention of doing anything other than creating chaotic situations which is sad. My father is 92 paid taxes entire life still paying it but never received any benefits from government

Everywhere same shit? We still remember the recent truckers' agitation in Canada and Trudeau's fleeing to an undisclosed destination was something unprecedented in the history of developed world. Talking about taxes, in Canada you pay more taxes than in India. Of course, you can always say you have a better social security in place, but are nonagenarians exempted from IT? Think twice before cursing the bridge that you've just crossed.

The case was filed in 2012 when Congress was ruling. Let RaGa argue and come out clean if he is innocent. All these gimmics throw a wrong signal.

These are seasonal actions of BJP and reaction by congress during voting season. Nothing serious. It’s only for media and to vote bank. Even if all cases have closed there is no harm in highlighting them and recreating same old drama to fool people.
