Dubai, Jun 18: USWAS-Shirva, a group of dedicated members belonging to the parish of Our Lady of Health Church Shirva. The group is one of the most vibrant and well established associations among the parishes of Udupi diocese. This association has been consistently rendering a constant service in various fields for the past 20 years. USWAS is a non-profit association, abides and drives its spirit with the motto of ‘Lend a hand not for self, but for each other’.
Driven by its motto, USWAS extends unconditional service to promote well-being of Shirvites, Shirva parish and society, uplift Konkani language and culture, education of financially background children, supporting alma matter, medical aid, house construction, marriages of economically backward families and many other purposes.
The main objective of USWAS is to bring all the Shirva parishioners together under one roof. Currently, USWAS has more than 207 active members and families.
USWAS 20th anniversary celebrations
USWAS marked its beginning of 20th year celebrations by staging a get-together at Four Point Sheraton Hotel, Bur Dubai on June 4 under the leadership of Roshan Menezes and in the presence of Shirva parishioners and well-wishers. To celebrate 20th anniversary USWAS-Shirva is all set to present ‘Nihal Tauro Live in Concert’ on October 8 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Dubai.
A minute silence was observed and prayers were offered for the soul of the late HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President who left for heavenly abode on May 13 earlier this year.
The programme started with a hymn to patron Saud Mai by the USWAS committee. USWAS President Roshan Menezes welcomed the patrons and well-wishers and presented a 20 year report on USWAS’ activities.
The 20th anniversary celebration started off with cake cutting by Joseph Mathias, Shirva-Pilar/Dubai, Robert D’Sa and Franky D’Souza, founder president of USWAS along with members. The 20th anniversary logo was also unveiled during the occasion.
Nihal Tauro Live In Concert - Announcement
Nihal Tauro Live in Concert was announced by launching a teaser by well-wishers Vanitha Menezes (Representative of Globe Link West Star Shipping LLC), Benny and Laveena Quadros – Abu Dhabi, Joseph Mathias (MD Merit Freight Systems Co. LLC), George Saldana (Delmon Group of companies), Kent Johansson (MD-Pax-Kent International LLC) and Joachim Nyberg (Director Fars Al Mazrooei Contracting LLC). Joseph Mathias briefly introduced about Nihal Tauro and requested everyone to support and make the concert a full house. He also appreciated USWAS’ committee members for their service towards needy people and for various other causes.
Nihal Tauro Live In Concert - Tickets Released
The tickets of Nihal Tauro Live in Concert were released by Dr Frank Fernandes (MD-Mosaco shipping and forwarding LLC), James Mendonca (MD-Reliable Fabricators LLC), Ivan Nancy Quadros (Lumen Group of Companies), Walter Mathias (Ratsky Club-Dubai), Navee Magundi and Godwin Aranha Abu Dhabi. Dr Frank Fernandes speaking on this occasion congratulated USWAS committee members and wished the best on completing glorious 20 years for their dedicated efforts to serve the needy.
USWAS also announced few other projects such as blood donation camp, health screening camp, education support, cricket and throw ball tournament, new house construction to needy family and grand closing ceremony in Shirva, as a part of 20th year celebrations.
Entertainment
USWAS members and children entertained the gathering by presenting various dances, skits, songs and comedy act.
The vote of thanks was rendered by vice president Lesly Saldanha. The programme was compared by Sharan D’Souza. A lavish buffet was served on the occasion. The event was concluded by baila dance.
