Kundapur, June 20: “A G Kodgi was a senior politician in the district. He had indulged himself as an MLA, cooperative leader in the social sector,” said former speaker of Legislative Council K Pratapchandra Shetty.
He was speaking after lighting the lamp and offering floral tributes to the picture as homage to the departed A G Kodgi in a meet at Kundapur Hotel Sharon held by Block Congress Committee, Kundapur.
“He used to perform considering the importance of his position. He was aware of the law when he was the member of district panchayat and taluk panchayat. Officials were scared when he arrived, which is absent now,” he said.
Kundapur Block Congress president Hariprasad Shetty Kanmakki said that he practised discipline in politics and social sectors. “He was a bold campaigner in politics. He indulged in the progress of his hometown through Amasebail Charitable Trust after retiring from politics,” he said.
Manigopal said that A G Kodgi had a close rapport with Devaraj Urs. “He had opportunities to be the minister in Urs cabinet. He stood by the farmers during land reforms though he himself was a landlord. He had contributed through zilla parishat. He worked beyond religion and caste,” he said.
